Display stand

Abstract

A display stand suitable for displaying items with round, flat or uneven bottoms, including desserts such as French macarons is disclosed. The display stand can be assembled by the user, and includes at least one base sheet and at least one shelf sheet.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A display stand comprising:
 at least one base sheet, which when assembled forms a base unit, said at least one base sheet being generally shaped in a sector form and including an outward facing surface, an inward facing surface, a top edge, and a bottom edge; and   at least one shelf sheet including a shelf surface, said at least one shelf sheet being generally shaped in a planar annular ring form and configured for attachment to said base unit.   
     
     
         2 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said at least one base sheet includes one or more openings and one or more inserts, each of said one or more openings and said one or more inserts being paired together so as to retain said base unit in an assembled position upon operable coupling of each of said one or more openings and said one or more inserts. 
     
     
         3 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein each of said one or more openings are formed by a slit located adjacent a first side edge of said at least one base sheet, said first side edge being between said top edge and said bottom edge. 
     
     
         4 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 3 , wherein each of said one or more inserts is formed by elongating a portion of said at least one base sheet at a second side edge of said at least one base sheet, said second side edge being between said top edge and said bottom edge. 
     
     
         5 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein said base unit forms a generally conical shape upon coupling of each of said one or more openings and said one or more inserts. 
     
     
         6 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , further including a topper configured for attachment to said base unit along said top edge. 
     
     
         7 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein said topper is selected from a group consisting of: a candle holder, a card holder, a clip, a dip-container, and a decorative sign denoting at least one of: a phrase, an image, and a design. 
     
     
         8 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said at least one base sheet includes at least one hole between said outward facing surface and said inward facing surface, said hole for attaching a display item to said base unit. 
     
     
         9 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , further including a bridging unit configured for attachment to said base unit at said bottom edge so as to provide structural integrity to said display stand. 
     
     
         10 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein at least one of said one or more inserts includes a secondary securing means. 
     
     
         11 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 10 , wherein said secondary securing means is a slot located within an extreme edge of said at least one of said one or more inserts. 
     
     
         12 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said at least one shelf sheet includes at least one protrusion located along an outer edge of said at least one shelf sheet, said at least one protrusion for retaining an item for display upon said at least one shelf sheet of said display stand when said at least one shelf sheet is attached to said base unit. 
     
     
         13 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said base unit and said at least one shelf sheet are constructed of a flexible material selected from a group consisting of plastic, polyvinyl chloride, acetate, paper products, cardboard, acrylic, metal, metal foil, and aluminum alloys. 
     
     
         14 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said base unit and said at least one shelf sheet are constructed of a flexible material that is at least one of: food-safe, disposable, recyclable, reusable, opaque, translucent, transparent, patterned, and colored. 
     
     
         15 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , further including at least one shelf liner covering at least a portion of said shelf surface. 
     
     
         16 . The display stand as claimed in  claim 1 , further including a display box configured for attachment to said bottom edge of said base unit. 
     
     
         17 . A kit for assembly as a display stand, said kit comprising:
 at least one base sheet capable of forming a base unit once assembled, said at least one base sheet being generally shaped in a sector form and including an outward facing surface, an inward facing surface, a top edge, and a bottom edge; and   at least one shelf sheet including a shelf surface, said at least one shelf sheet being generally shaped in a planar annular ring form and configured for attachment to said base unit   
     
     
         18 . The kit as claimed in  claim 17 , further including a topper configured for attachment to said base unit along said top edge. 
     
     
         19 . The kit as claimed in  claim 18 , wherein said topper is selected from a group consisting of a candle holder, a card holder, a clip, a dip-container, and a decorative sign denoting at least one of a phrase, an image, and a design. 
     
     
         20 . The kit as claimed in  claim 19 , wherein
 said base unit and said at least one shelf sheet are constructed of a flexible material selected from a group consisting of plastic, polyvinyl chloride, acetate, paper products, cardboard, acrylic, metal, metal foil, and aluminum alloys, and   said flexible material is at least one of: food-safe, disposable, recyclable, reusable, opaque, translucent, transparent, patterned, and colored.
