Systems and methods for transacting at an atm using a mobile device
Abstract
The disclosed embodiments provide systems and methods for transacting at a local financial service provider device using a mobile device. The system may include one or more processors configured to execute instructions to receive transaction data associated with a transaction request including a customer identifier received from a mobile device associated with the customer. Additionally, the processors may receive authentication data associated with the customer that may be provided by the customer operating the mobile device and without requiring the customer to input data directly at the local financial service provider device. The processors may further determine whether the received authentication data authenticates the transaction, authorize the transaction, and provide an indication to the local financial service provider device to perform the transaction based on a determination that the customer operating the mobile device is physically located within a threshold distance away from the local financial service provider device.

21 . A system for authenticating a user at an automated teller machine (ATM), comprising:
one or more memory devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to:
receive, at the ATM, a transaction request received from a mobile device associated with a customer;
identify a customer account based on the transaction request;
detect capabilities associated with the mobile device;
request authentication data from the customer based on the detected capabilities of the device and the transaction request;
request customer identification data from a database;
compare customer identification data received from the database and the authentication data received from the customer via the mobile device; and
authenticate the user at the ATM based on the comparison.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to receive a customer identifier from the mobile device.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to perform multi-tiered authentication.
24 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to determine an authentication tier level based on the capabilities of the mobile device.
25 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to iteratively prompt the user for additional authentication data until the required authentication tier level is satisfied.
26 . The system of claim 23 , wherein a different customer associated with a different user device has a different tier level associated with a transaction.
27 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the authentication data comprises one or more of fingerprint detection, retina scan, iris scan, heartbeat pattern detection, facial recognition, voice recognition, or palm vein scan.
28 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the authentication tier level is determined by an amount of the transaction.
29 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to configured to provide a notification on a display of the mobile device reflecting results of the authentication.
30 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to internally indicate to the ATM that the authentication tier level is satisfied, transparent to the user.
31 . A computer-implemented method for authenticating a user at an automated teller machine (ATM), comprising:
one or more memory devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to:
receiving, by one or more processors of the ATM, a transaction request received from a mobile device associated with a customer;
identifying a customer account based on the transaction request;
detecting capabilities associated with the mobile device;
requesting authentication data from the customer based on the detected capabilities of the device and a determined transaction tier associated with the transaction request;
requesting customer identification data from a database;
comparing customer identification data received from the database and the authentication data received from the customer via the mobile device;
authenticating the user at the ATM based on the comparison.
32 . The method of claim 31 , further includes receiving a customer identifier from the mobile device.
33 . The method of claim 31 , further comprises performing multi-tiered authentication.
34 . The method of claim 33 , further comprises determining authentication tier level based on the capabilities of the mobile device.
35 . The method of claim 33 , further comprises iteratively prompting the user for additional authentication data until the required authentication tier level is satisfied.
36 . The method of claim 33 , wherein a different customer associated with a different user device has a different tier level associated with a transaction.
37 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the authentication data comprises one or more of fingerprint detection, retina scan, iris scan, heartbeat pattern detection, facial recognition, voice recognition, or palm vein scan.
38 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the authentication tier level is determined by an amount of the transaction.
39 . The method of claim 33 , further comprises, providing a notification on a display of the user device reflecting results of the authentication.
40 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions executable by a processor to perform operations for authenticating a user at an automated teller machines (ATM), comprising:
receiving, at the ATM, a transaction request received from a detected mobile device associated with a customer; identifying a customer account based on the transaction request; detecting a capability associated with the mobile device; requesting authentication data from the customer based on the detected capability of the device and a transaction tier of the transaction request; requesting customer identification data from a database; comparing customer identification data received from the database and the authentication data received from the customer via the mobile device; authenticating, at the ATM, the user based on the comparison.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
