Corporeal drainage system
Abstract
A catheter connector assembly which may be included with a corporeal drainage system, and a method of draining fluid from a bodily cavity. The catheter connector assembly may include a catheter connector and a drainage line connector. The catheter connector may include a connector body with a coupling feature, a deformable sealing element, and a retaining member. The drainage line connector may include a drainage line body first and second hinge clips, and an actuator. The actuator is designed to deform the deformable sealing element when the drainage line connector is coupled to the catheter connector.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 5 . (canceled)
6 . A drainage line connector, comprising:
a drainage line body having a bore; an engagement member comprising an engagement feature configured to engage a coupling feature of a catheter connector; and an actuator having a lumen in fluid communication with the drainage line body bore, the actuator configured to deform a deformable sealing element when the drainage line connector is coupled to the catheter connector.
7 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the engagement member comprises:
a first hinge clip pivotably affixed to a first side of the drainage line body; a second hinge clip pivotably affixed to a second side of the drainage line body opposite the first side, each of the first and second hinge clips including a first end and a second end, the second end including a clip engagement feature configured to engage the coupling feature of the catheter connector.
8 . The drainage line connector of claim 7 , wherein the clip engagement feature comprises a radial inwardly extending catch.
9 . The drainage line connector of claim 7 , wherein the clip engagement feature is configured to disengage the coupling feature of the catheter connector when the drainage line connector is disconnected from the catheter connector.
10 . The drainage line connector of claim 7 , wherein the second end of the each of the first and second hinge clips is configured to be displaced radial outwardly when a radial inward directed force is applied to the second end of the each of the first and second hinge clips.
11 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the engagement member comprises a positioning sleeve, comprising a distal end, the distal end including an engagement feature configured to engage the coupling feature of the catheter connector.
12 . The drainage line connector of claim 11 , wherein the engagement feature comprises a radial inwardly extending catch.
13 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the positioning sleeve is a cylinder.
14 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the positioning sleeve comprises at least two circumferential segments.
15 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the drainage line body further comprises a proximally extending protrusion having a lumen in fluid communication with the bore and configured to couple with a drainage line.
16 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the actuator comprises a distally extending protrusion having an actuator lumen in fluid communication with the bore.
17 . The drainage line connector of claim 6 , wherein the drainage line connector is coupled to a drainage line and a fluid receptacle.
18 . A corporeal drainage line system, comprising:
a drainage line connector comprising:
a drainage line body having a bore;
an engagement member comprising an engagement feature configured to engage a coupling feature of a catheter connector; and
an actuator having a lumen in fluid communication with the drainage line body bore, the actuator configured to deform a deformable sealing element when the drainage line connector is coupled to the catheter connector;
a drainage line, the drainage line connector coupled to the drainage line; and a fluid receptacle in fluid communication with the drainage line.
19 . The corporeal drainage system of claim 18 , wherein the engagement member comprises:
a first hinge clip pivotably affixed to a first side of the drainage line body; and a second hinge clip pivotably affixed to a second side of the drainage line body opposite the first side, each of the first and second hinge clips including a first end and a second end, the second end including a clip engagement feature configured to engage the coupling feature of the catheter connector.
20 . The corporeal drainage system of claim 18 , wherein the engagement member comprises a positioning sleeve, comprising a distal end, the distal end having an engagement feature configured to engage the coupling feature of the catheter connector.
21 . The corporeal drainage line system of claim 18 , further comprising a pump and a fluid flow conduit connecting the pump to the fluid receptacle.
22 . The corporeal drainage line system of claim 21 , wherein the pump is coupled to the drainage line.
23 . A method of using a drainage line connector, comprising:
coupling the drainage line connector to a drainage catheter connector, comprising moving the drainage line connector over the drainage catheter connector until an engagement feature of the drainage line connector is received into a coupling feature of the drainage catheter connector body; and positioning a fluid receptacle below the bodily cavity.
24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein the coupling the drainage line connector to a drainage catheter connector further comprises applying a radial inwardly directed force to first and second hinge clips.
25 . The method of claim 23 , further comprising activating a pump to initiate fluid flow from a bodily cavity.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
