Abstract

Streaming video from audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, an audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device is provided, comprising: a camera configured to capture image data of an object within a field of view; a communication module; and a processing module comprising: a processor; and a motion detection application which configures the processor to: detect motion of the object; capture image data of the object; track the object within the field of view; stream the image data to a client device using the communication module; determine when the object is no longer detected within the field of view; start a timer upon determining that the object is no longer detected within the field of view; and stop capturing the image data, tracking the object, and streaming the image data upon expiration of the timer.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . An audio/video recording and communication device (A/V device), comprising:
 a camera having a field of view (FOV); a communication module; a processor operatively connected to the camera and to the communication module; and a memory storing a motion detection application comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the A/V device to:
 detect motion within the FOV of the camera;
 capture image data of the FOV using the camera;
 transmit the image data using the communication module;
 determine that motion is no longer detected within the FOV of the camera;
 start a timer upon determining that motion is no longer detected within the FOV of the camera;
 prior to expiration of the timer, stop the timer upon again detecting motion within the FOV of the camera;
 restart the timer upon again determining that motion is no longer detected within the FOV of the camera; and
 upon expiration of the timer, stop capturing the image data.

         2 . The A/V device of claim 1 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to transmit the image data while capturing the image data of the FOV.

         3 . The A/V device of claim 2 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to stop transmitting the image data after expiration of the timer.

         4 . The A/V device of claim 1 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to transmit the image data after expiration of the timer.

         5 . The A/V device of claim 1 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to detect the motion within the FOV of the camera using the camera.

         6 . The A/V device of claim 5 further comprising a motion sensor, and wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to confirm, using the motion sensor, the detection, by the camera, of the motion within the FOV of the camera.

         7 . The A/V device of claim 6 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to determine not to transmit the image data nor start the timer if the detection of the motion within the FOV of the camera is not confirmed.

         8 . The A/V device of claim 1 , further comprising a motion sensor, and wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to detect the motion within the FOV of the camera using the motion sensor.

         9 . The A/V device of claim 8 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to confirm, using the camera, the detection, by the motion sensor, of the motion within the FOV of the camera.

         10 . The A/V device of claim 9 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to determine not to transmit the image data nor start the timer if the detection of the motion within the FOV of the camera is not confirmed.

         11 . The A/V device of claim 8 , wherein the motion detection application comprises further instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the A/V device to transition the camera from a low-power state to an active state upon the detection of the motion within the FOV of the camera using the motion sensor.

         12 . A method for an audio/video recording and communication device (A/V device) comprising a camera having a field of view (FOV), the method comprising:
 detecting motion within the FOV of the camera; capturing image data of the FOV using the camera; tracking an object within the FOV of the camera; determining that the object is no longer within the FOV of the camera; starting a timer upon determining that the object is no longer within the FOV of the camera; prior to expiration of the timer, stopping the timer upon determining that the object is again within the FOV of the camera; restarting the timer upon again determining that the object is no longer within the FOV of the camera; and upon expiration of the timer, stopping capturing of the image data and tracking of the object within the FOV of the camera.

         13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the A/V device further comprises a communication module, and wherein the method further comprises transmitting the image data, using the communication module, after expiration of the timer.

         14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the A/V device further comprises a communication module, and wherein the method further comprises transmitting the image data, using the communication module, while tracking the object within the FOV of the camera, and stopping the transmitting of the image data after expiration of the timer.

         15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the camera is used for detecting the motion within the FOV of the camera.

         16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the A/V device further comprises a motion sensor, and wherein the method further comprises confirming, using the motion sensor, the detection, by the camera, of the motion within the FOV of the camera.

         17 . The method of claim 16 further comprising not tracking the object nor starting the timer if the detection of the motion within the FOV of the camera is not confirmed.
