Session hand-off for mobile applications
Abstract
A hand-off service enables seamless sharing of session data of an online session between a server and a client with additional clients in an application, e.g., art application used for finding décor items. A user can request a server, using a first device, e.g., desktop, for access information for accessing the art application using a second device, e.g., smartphone. When the second device accesses the server using the access information, the server generates a unique storage address space that is connected to a session between the server and the first device. The user can upload a digital asset, e.g., image of a room captured using the smartphone, to the unique address and the server automatically renders the digital asset on the first device. The server can also render another digital asset, e.g., an art image, within the setting image.

21 . A method comprising:
generating, by a server computing device, a first online session between the server computing device and a first computing device associated with a user, the first computing device being associated with a user based on user identification information specific to the first online session and stored at the server computing device, the first online session allowing the user to access a plurality of digital assets; generating, by the server computing device, a second online session between the server computing device and a second computing device associated with the user, the second computing device being associated with the user based on user identification information specific to the second online session and stored at the server computing device, the second online session allowing the user to access the plurality of digital assets; and automatically associating, by the server computing device, the first online session and the second online session based on the user identification information specific to the first online session and the user identification information specific to the second online session.
22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
receiving, by the server computing device and from the first computing device or the second computing device, a request for uploading a specified digital asset from the first computing device or the second computing device to the server computing device; receiving, at the server computing device from the first computing device or the second computing device, the specified digital asset; and automatically generating, by the server computing device, the digital asset at the first computing device when the specified digital asset is received from the second computing device or at the second computing device when the specified digital asset is received from the first computing device.
23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein generating the first online session includes storing information about the first online session as first session data prior to automatically associating the first online session and the second online session.
24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein generating the second online session includes storing information about the second online session as second session data prior to automatically associating the first online session and the second online session.
25 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
making first session data available to the second online session and second session data available to the first online session.
26 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising:
synchronizing first session data with second session data by automatically copying changes to the first session data to the second session data and automatically copying changes to the second session data to the first session data.
27 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
deriving the first online session for associating with the second online session based on the user identification information specific to the first online session.
28 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising:
receiving, by the server computing device from the first online session, a user selection of at least one selected artwork from among a plurality of digital assets; and generating, by the server computing device and at the second computing device, a rendered image by overlaying the at least one selected artwork on the specified digital asset.
29 . The method of claim 28 , further comprising:
generating, by the server computing device, the rendered image at a third computing device associated with the user.
30 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising:
determining, at the server computing device, a subset of digital assets from a plurality of digital assets that matches with the specified digital asset in the first online session; receiving, by the server computing device from the first online session, a user selection for at least one selected artwork from among the subset of digital assets; and generating, by the server computing device and at the second computing device, a rendered image by overlaying the at least one selected artwork on the specified digital asset.
31 . The method of claim 22 , further comprising:
receiving, by the server computing device from the first online session, a user selection for at least one selected artwork from among a plurality of digital assets; and generating an art image by overlaying the at least one selected artwork on a live view of a setting captured by the second computing device.
32 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
automatically updating the art image based on a change made to the at least one selected artwork.
33 . A computer system comprising:
a computing platform including computing hardware of at least one processor and memory operably coupled to the at least one processor; instructions that, when executed on the computing platform, cause the computing platform to:
generate a first online session between the computing platform and a first computing device associated with a user, the first computing device being associated with a user based on user identification information specific to the first online session and stored at the computing platform, the first online session allowing the user to access a plurality of digital assets;
generate a second online session between the computing platform and a second computing device associated with the user, the second computing device being associated with the user based on user identification information specific to the second online session and stored at the computing platform, the second online session allowing the user to access the plurality of digital assets; and
automatically associate the first online session and the second online session based on the user identification information specific to the first online session and the user identification information specific to the second online session.
34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the instructions that, when executed on the computing platform, cause the computing platform to further:
receive, from the first computing device or the second computing device, a request for uploading a specified digital asset from the first computing device or the second computing device to the computing platform; receive, from the first computing device or the second computing device, the specified digital asset; and automatically generate the digital asset at the first computing device when the specified digital asset is received from the second computing device or at the second computing device when the specified digital asset is received from the first computing device.
35 . The system of claim 33 , wherein generating the first online session includes storing information about the first online session as first session data prior to automatically associating the first online session and the second online session.
36 . The system of claim 35 , wherein generating the second online session includes storing information about the second online session as second session data prior to automatically associating the first online session and the second online session.
37 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the instructions that, when executed on the computing platform, cause the computing platform to further:
make first session data available to the second online session and second session data available to the first online session.
38 . The system of claim 36 , wherein the instructions that, when executed on the computing platform, cause the computing platform to further:
synchronize first session data with second session data by automatically copying changes to the first session data to the second session data and automatically copying changes to the second session data to the first session data.
39 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the instructions that, when executed on the computing platform, cause the computing platform to further:
derive the first online session for associating with the second online session based on the user identification information specific to the first online session.
40 . A computer system comprising:
