Method and program product for a private performance network with geographical load simulation
Abstract
A method and program product includes establishing a virtual private performance network for emulating different time zones and geographic traffic to simulate user patterns during a test session on an external networked system. A connection with a controller is established for accepting inputs for the test session. Load generators are configured with emulation parameters for the test session. The emulation parameters are based on the inputs from the controller. Resources of the load generators are monitored during the test session. Virtual users are added for varying a load on the external networked system for simulating the user patterns. A failover is detected of a failing load generator indicated by the monitoring. The test session is moved from the failing load generator to a failover generator upon the detection for continuing the test session and mitigating loss of data.

establishing a virtual private performance network for emulating different time zones and geographic traffic to simulate user patterns during a test session on an external networked system; establishing a connection with a controller for accepting inputs for the test session; configuring load generators with emulation parameters for the test session, the emulation parameters at least in part being based on the inputs from the controller; monitoring resources of the load generators during the test session; adding virtual users for varying a load on the external networked system for simulating the user patterns; detecting a failover of a failing load generator indicated by said monitoring; and moving the test session from the failing load generator to a failover generator upon said detection for continuing the test session and mitigating loss of data.
2 . The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising the step of running security tests on the external networked system.
3 . The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising the step of outputting results of the test session.
4 . The method as recited in claim 1 , in which said establishing a virtual private performance network further at least comprises using operating system kernel parameters with a combination of custom scripts and a user interface.
5 . The method as recited in claim 1 , in which said adding virtual users further comprises using an add it add more users threads.
6 . The method as recited in claim 2 , in which the security tests further comprises BOT detection.
7 . The method as recited in claim 2 , in which the security tests further comprises forcing incorrect passwords.
8 . The method as recited in claim 2 , in which the security tests are executed during the test session.
9 . The method as recited in claim 3 , in which the results of the test session further comprises login response times for the different time zones.
10 . A method comprising:
steps for establishing a virtual private performance network; steps for establishing a connection with a controller for accepting inputs for the test session; steps for configuring load generators with input derived emulation parameters for the test session; steps for monitoring resources of the load generators; steps for adding virtual users for varying a load on the external networked system for simulating the user patterns; steps for detecting a failover of a failing load generator indicated by said monitoring; and steps for moving the test session from the failing load generator to a failover generator for continuing the test session and mitigating loss of data.
11 . The method as recited in claim 10 , further comprising steps for running security tests.
12 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium with an executable program stored thereon, wherein the program instructs one or more processors to perform the following steps:
establishing a virtual private performance network for emulating different time zones and geographic traffic to simulate user patterns during a test session on an external networked system; establishing a connection with a controller for accepting inputs for the test session; configuring load generators with emulation parameters for the test session, the emulation parameters at least in part being based on the inputs from the controller; monitoring resources of the load generators during the test session; adding virtual users for varying a load on the external networked system for simulating the user patterns; detecting a failover of a failing load generator indicated by said monitoring; and moving the test session from the failing load generator to a failover generator upon said detection for continuing the test session and mitigating loss of data.
13 . The program instructing the one or more processors as recited in claim 12 , further comprising the step of running security tests on the external networked system.
