Abstract

A novel primer composition contains aldimine and/or epoxy resins, a process of making such primer to be used in glass bonding adhesive kit.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A primer composition comprising, based on the total weight of the composition, an organic solvent; an aldimine; an alkoxysilane; a non-reactive film forming resin; a polyisocyanate prepolymer; a reactive modifier; a catalyst; and an isocyanate stabilizer.

2 . The primer composition of claim 1 further comprising less than 10 wt. % of an epoxy resin.

3 . The primer composition of claim 2 wherein the epoxy resin is a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A.

4 . The primer composition of claim 1 is substantially free of carbon black.

5 . The primer composition of claim 1 is free of carbon black.

6 . The primer composition of claim 1 wherein the organic solvent comprises one of acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, and a mixture thereof; and wherein the reactive modifier is an oxazolidine containing compound.

7 . The primer composition of claim 1 wherein the isocyanate stabilizer comprises diethyl malonate.

8 . The primer composition of claim 1 wherein the aldimine is a dialdimine.

9 . The primer composition of claim 8 wherein the aldimine is a reaction product of polyetheramines and benzaldehyde.

10 . The primer composition of claim 1 wherein alkoxysilane is a reaction product of gamma-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) biuret.
