Abstract

A license plate sheet having superior weather resistance is provided. A license plate comprising the license plate sheet and having markings visible to a infrared-based ALPR system, is also provided. In some embodiments, the license plate sheet includes an infrared absorbing marking layer, wherein the infrared absorbing marking layer includes cesium tungsten oxide and a binder.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A retroreflective article comprising:
a retroreflective substrate having a light incident side, the retroreflective substrate including a plurality of retroreflective elements and a reflective layer; and a marking layer comprising cesium tungsten oxide particles.

2 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the reflective layer includes one of a metallic layer, a seal film or an adhesive film comprising barrier materials.

3 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the marking layer further comprises a binder.

4 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the retroreflective elements include beads, cube corners or lenslets.

5 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the marking layer is disposed on at least a portion of the retroreflective substrate.

6 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the marking layer is disposed on the entire light incident side of the retroreflective substrate.

7 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the marking layer forms indicia.

8 . The retroreflective article of claim 7 , wherein the marking layer forms one of a shape, a pattern or an alphanumeric character.

9 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , further comprising a printing layer disposed on at least a portion of the retroreflective substrate.

10 . The retroreflective article of claim 9 , wherein the printing layer overlaps with the marking layer.

11 . The retroreflective article of claim 9 , wherein the printing layer is visibly opaque and infrared transmissive.

12 . The retroreflective article of claim 1 , wherein the marking layer is colorless or near colorless.

13 . A license plate comprising the retroreflective article of any of the preceding claims.

14 . A traffic sign comprising the retroreflective article of any of the preceding claims.
