Claims

Abstract

A topical pharmaceutical composition comprising tazarotene and one or more of an anti-inflammatory or anti-bacterial agent. Also provided is a method for treating skin conditions, such as acne utilizing the above topical pharmaceutical composition.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of treating acne in a patient in need thereof, said method comprising administering to said patient a topical pharmaceutical composition comprising 0.1% w/w tazarotene and 5% w/w dapsone. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said acne is acne vulgaris. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said acne is comedonal acne. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , which results in a 60% reduction in comedonal lesion count at week 12, in comparison with a reduction of 47% for a patient who has undergone tazarotene monotherapy treatment. 
     
     
         5 . A method of treating comedonal acne in a patient in need thereof, said method comprising administering to said patient a topical pharmaceutical composition comprising 0.1% w/w tazarotene and 5% w/w dapsone. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , which results in a 60% reduction in comedonal lesion count at week 12, in comparison with a reduction of 47% for a patient who has undergone 0.1% w/w tazarotene monotherapy treatment.
