Abstract

A belt loop for attachment of a duty belt to a garment or other object. The belt loop includes a belt fastener having a piece of hook-and-loop material complementary to a piece of hook-and-loop material on the duty belt.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A belt loop for attachment to a duty belt, comprising:
a strip of a material having an upper end, a lower end and an outer surface extending from said upper end to said lower end; and a belt fastener affixed to said strip of material between said upper end and said lower end, said belt fastener positioned to attach to said duty belt.

2 . The belt loop of claim 1 , wherein said belt fastener comprises a part of hook-and-loop fastener material matching a part of hook-and-loop fastener material on a liner belt.

3 . The belt of claim 1 , wherein said belt fastener comprises a part of hook-and-loop fastener material complementary to a part of hook-and-loop fastener material on said duty belt.

4 . The belt of claim 1 , wherein said belt fastener comprises a loop part of hook-and-loop fastener material.

5 . The belt of claim 1 , wherein said belt fastener comprises a hook part of hook-and-loop fastener material.

6 . The belt loop of claim 1 , wherein a first linear dimension of said belt fastener is at least eighty percent (80%) of a corresponding first linear dimension of said belt loop.

7 . The belt loop of claim 1 , further comprising a second of said belt fastener attached to said belt loop.

8 . The belt loop of claim 7 , wherein said belt fastener and said second belt fastener are separated from one another by an intervening aperture passing through an outer surface of said belt loop.

9 . The belt loop of claim 1 , wherein said belt fastener is affixed to an outer surface of said belt loop.

10 . The belt loop of claim 1 , wherein said belt fastener is affixed to an inner surface of said belt loop.

         11 . A method, comprising:
attaching a first piece of a first part of a hook-and-loop material to a belt loop; attaching the belt loop to a surface of a garment, forming between a first end of the belt loop and a second end of the belt loop an open-sided passage for receiving a liner belt having a second piece of the first part of the hook-and-loop material attached to the liner belt; and attaching a duty belt having a piece of hook-and-loop material complementary to the first piece on the belt loop to the belt loop and to the liner belt.

12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising attaching the first piece of the first part of the hook-and-loop material to an outer surface of the belt loop.

13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising forming an aperture through an inner surface and an outer surface of the belt loop and attaching the first piece of the first part of the hook-and-loop material to the inner surface of the belt loop with a part of the first piece extending into the aperture.

14 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising forming the first piece of the first part of the hook-and-loop material to have a first linear dimension of at least eighty percent (80%) of a corresponding first linear dimension of the belt loop.

15 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising attaching another piece of the first part of the hook-and-loop material to an outer surface of the belt loop.

16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising forming an aperture through an outer surface of the belt loop and coupling the duty belt to the liner belt through the aperture.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising attaching the first piece and the another piece of the first part of the hook-and-loop material on opposite sides of the aperture.

         18 . A garment, comprising:
a panel; and a belt loop attached to said panel, comprising:
a strip of a material having an upper end, a lower end and an outer surface extending from said upper end to said lower end; and
a belt fastener affixed to said strip of material between said upper end and said lower end.

19 . The garment of claim 18 , wherein said garment comprises trousers.
