Abstract

The present disclosure relates to methods and device for carrying fishing equipment and accessories and for dispensing tippet or leader from a tackle container. In at least one embodiment the portable container comprises a first housing and a second housing that are pivotably connected. Each of the housings can be configured so as to define a plurality of hollow spaces therein, wherein at least one hollow space includes a tippet control system. In additional embodiments, the portable container can further include one or more expansion housings.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . (canceled)

         2 . A portable container, comprising:
a first housing having a first perimeter side wall, a first closed end and a second open end, wherein the first housing is configured to define at least one hollow space therein; a support system, being wearable by a user, wherein the support system is configured to attach about the first perimeter side wall of the first housing, wherein the support system is configured to retain the first housing such that the first end of the first housing rests against a front portion of the user; a second housing having a second perimeter side wall, a second closed end, and a second open end, wherein the second perimeter side is corresponding in shape to the first perimeter sidewall, the second housing being pivotably connected to the first housing via a hinge system, the second housing is configured to define at least one additional hollow space; a stop system being operable with the hinge system; wherein the first-housing and the second housing fold into a closed position being defined by a configuration wherein the first open end of the first housing and the second open end of the second housing face one another and substantially close one another; wherein the first housing and the second housing pivot away from one another to define an open position in order to expose the first open end and the second open end, thus providing access to the one or more hollow spaces contained therein; wherein the stop system is configured to limit a rotational distance the second housing can rotate away from the first housing such that the second housing can rest in a position being non-parallel to a front surface of the user's front portion in the open position; wherein the hinge system is positioned at a bottom edge of the first housing and the second housing in the closed position wherein the first housing is provided with a first magnetic portion and the second housing is provided with a second magnetic portion, wherein in the closed position the first magnetic portion and the second magnetic portion operate as a latch that maintains the container in the closed position.

3 . The portable container of claim 2 , wherein the first magnetic portion and the second magnetic portion comprises at least one of a magnet, a series of magnets, a ferromagnetic bar, or a ferromagnetic plate.

4 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising an expansion housing pivotably connected to both the first housing and the second housing, the expansion housing being positioned between the first housing and the second housing in the closed position.

5 . The portable container of claim 4 , wherein the expansion housing is configured so as to define at least one hollow space therein.

6 . The portable container of claim 4 , wherein the expansion housing includes an insert configured to hold and organize a plurality of fishing accessories.

7 . The portable container of claim 4 , wherein the expansion housing includes a magnet configured to hold accessories in place.

8 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising a tippet control space provided within the first housing or the second housing, the tippet control space includes at least one hollow space configured to hold a spool or disk of tippet material.

9 . The portable container of claim 8 , wherein the tippet control space further including at least one aperture configured to form a passageway to allow tippet to pass through the first perimeter sidewall or the second perimeter sidewall to an exterior of the first housing or the second housing.

10 . The portable container of claim 9 , wherein the tippet control space includes two hollow spaces and two apertures, wherein each hollow space is configured to hold a spool of tippet material and each aperture is configured to feed tippet therethrough, wherein the user is able to pull a desired length of tippet through each aperture.

11 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising a plurality of closeable lids provided to each of the hollow spaces provided in each of the first and second housings, the closeable lids each being provided with a latching mechanism about an outer circumference of their respective edges which operates to latch with corresponding latch components located about the outer circumference of their respective housings.

12 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising a porous material insert provided within the first housing or the second housing.

13 . The portable container of claim 2 , wherein the support system comprises a harness or straps configured to be worn by the user.

14 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising at least one clip attached to the support system, wherein the at least clip is configured to attach to the user's garments, a pack, or other gear.

15 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising at least two clips attached to the support system, wherein each of the clips is configured to attach to the user's garments, a pack, or other gear.

16 . The portable container of claim 2 , further comprising a retractable cord mechanism provided within one of the hollow spaces, wherein the retractable cord extends through the holes or passages such that when released, an end of the retractable cord is pulled against the exterior surface of the portable carrying case.
