Claims

Abstract

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for applying reduced pressure to a tissue site on a foot are provided. An apparatus may include an insole and a tissue contacting surface covering at least a portion of the insole. At least one portion of the tissue contacting surface is removable to form a void. The apparatus may also include a reduced-pressure interface for receiving reduced pressure from a reduced-pressure source, and at least one flow channel fluidly coupled to the reduced-pressure interface and the void.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An apparatus for applying reduced pressure to a wound at a tissue site on a foot, the apparatus comprising:
 an insole having a plurality of protrusions and a plurality of grooves, the plurality of protrusions and the plurality of grooves forming interconnected flow channels;   a sealing layer coupled to the insole to provide a seal over the insole, wherein an opening in the sealing layer exposes a portion of the plurality of grooves, the opening configured to be aligned with the wound to fluidly couple a portion of the flow channels with the wound to provide reduced pressure to the wound; and   a conduit fluidly coupled to the insole and configured to apply a reduced pressure to the wound from a reduced-pressure source.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprises one or more grid markers on the sealing layer. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the grid markers are configured to aid in locating the opening in the sealing layer to align the opening with the wound. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the grid markers are configured to aid in determining the healing progress of the wound. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the insole further comprises a ridge configured to prevent movement of the insole relative to the foot. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing layer comprises a hydrogel. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing layer has a tissue-facing side having an adhesive. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing layer has an insole-facing side having an adhesive. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a foam manifold configured to be inserted into the opening and configured to further distributed reduced pressure to the tissue site.   
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the conduit comprises a first lumen, a second lumen, and an angled divider separating the first lumen and the second lumen. 
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the angled divider is at a 45 degree angle with respect to a wall of one or more of the first lumen and the second lumen. 
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein at least one wall of one or more of the first lumen and the second lumen has a protrusion configured to prevent collapse of one or more of the first lumen and the second lumen. 
     
     
         13 . An apparatus for applying reduced pressure to a wound at a tissue site on a foot, the apparatus comprising:
 an insole configured to be placed on a dorsal region of the foot, the insole having a plurality of protrusions and a plurality of voids; and   a conduit fluidly coupled to the insole and configured to apply a reduced pressure to the wound from a reduced-pressure source.   
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the plurality of protrusions are configured to be disposed between toes of the foot. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the plurality of voids are configured to apply reduced pressure to a region between the toes of the foot. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein each protrusion is configured to be placed on an individual toe of the foot. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , further comprising a sealing member configured to couple the insole to the foot. 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the insole comprises a reticulated foam.
