Systems and methods of calculating communications strengths
Abstract
Organizing a participant list includes maintaining a participant list of users of an electronic communications system to be used by a first user of the electronic communications system. Communications strengths between the first user and each of the users included in the participant list are determined. The users included in the participant list are organized based on the corresponding communications strengths. Communications strengths may be determined for users included in a group within a participant list, and the users within the group may be organized within the group based on communications strength. An additional group in the participant list in which some or all of the users included in the participant list are organized based on communications strength may be provided.

21 . A method comprising:
identifying, for a user of a communications system, a plurality of co-users of the communications system that may be added to a list of users associated with the user; determining, in relation to the user, communications strengths for the plurality of co-users; ranking the plurality of co-users based on the communications strengths; providing, for display within a graphical user interface on a user device associated with the user, one or more co-users of the plurality of co-users based on the ranking; receiving an indication of a request to add a co-user from the one or more co-users to the list of users associated with the user; and adding, based on the request, the co-user to the list of users associated with the user.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein identifying the plurality of co-users of the communications system comprises maintaining a mapping of email addresses to identifiers for the plurality of co-users.
23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein determining the communications strengths for the plurality of co-users comprises determining characteristics of relationships between the user and the co-users of the plurality of co-users.
24 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising determining, for the one or more co-users of the plurality of co-users, that the communications strengths of the one or more co-users satisfy a threshold communications strength.
25 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
identifying multiple user identifiers associated with the user within the communications system; and maintaining a second list of users associated with the user, wherein the second list of users is associated with a different user identifier than the list of users.
26 . The method of claim 25 , further comprising:
receiving an indication of a request to add a second co-user from the one or more co-users to the second list of users associated with the user; and adding, based on the request, the second co-user to the second list of users associated with the user.
27 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
determining characteristics associated with the co-user added to the list of the user; and identifying, within the list of users associated with the user, a group to which to add the co-user based on the characteristics.
28 . A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computer device to:
identify, for a user of a communications system, a plurality of co-users of the communications system that may be added to a list of users associated with the user; determine, in relation to the user, communications strengths for the plurality of co-users; rank the plurality of co-users based on the communications strengths; provide, for display within a graphical user interface on a user device associated with the user, one or more co-users of the plurality of co-users based on the ranking; receive an indication of a request to add a co-user from the one or more co-users to the list of users associated with the user; and add, based on the request, the co-user to the list of users associated with the user.
29 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the instructions cause the computer device to identify the plurality of co-users of the communications system by maintaining a mapping of email addresses to identifiers for the plurality of co-users.
30 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28 , wherein the instructions cause the computer device to determine the communications strengths for the plurality of co-users by determining characteristics of relationships between the user and the co-users of the plurality of co-users.
31 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computer device to determine, for the one or more co-users of the plurality of co-users, that the communications strengths of the one or more co-users satisfy a threshold communications strength.
32 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computer device to:
identify multiple user identifiers associated with the user within the communications system; and maintain a second list of users associated with the user, wherein the second list of users is associated with a different user identifier than the list of users.
33 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 32 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computer device to:
receive an indication of a request to add a second co-user from the one or more co-users to the second list of users associated with the user; and add, based on the request, the second co-user to the second list of users associated with the user.
34 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 28 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computer device to:
determine characteristics associated with the co-user added to the list of the user; and identify, within the list of users associated with the user, a group to which to add the co-user based on the characteristics.
35 . A system comprising:
at least one processor; and a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:
identify, for a user of a communications system, a plurality of co-users of the communications system that may be added to a list of users associated with the user;
determine, in relation to the user, communications strengths for the plurality of co-users;
rank the plurality of co-users based on the communications strengths;
provide, for display within a graphical user interface on a user device associated with the user, one or more co-users of the plurality of co-users based on the ranking;
receive an indication of a request to add a co-user from the one or more co-users to the list of users associated with the user; and
add, based on the request, the co-user to the list of users associated with the user.
36 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the instructions cause the system to identify the plurality of co-users of the communications system by maintaining a mapping of email addresses to identifiers for the plurality of co-users.
37 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the instructions cause the system to determine the communications strengths for the plurality of co-users by determining characteristics of relationships between the user and the co-users of the plurality of co-users.
38 . The system of claim 35 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to determine, for the one or more co-users of the plurality of co-users, that the communications strengths of the one or more co-users satisfy a threshold communications strength.
39 . The system of claim 35 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:
identify multiple user identifiers associated with the user within the communications system; and maintain a second list of users associated with the user, wherein the second list of users is associated with a different user identifier than the list of users.
40 . The system of claim 39 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:
