Beam Selection for Wireless Devices in a Wireless Communications Network
Abstract
Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a radio network node ( 12 ) for facilitating beam selection for wireless devices in a wireless communications network. The radio network node obtains a first parameter indicating a mapping between an uplink signal, US, sequence and a beam-formed reference signal, RS, which mapping is for two or more wireless devices that are configured to perform measurements on beam-formed reference signals and to use US sequences to report selected beams, and a second parameter distinguishing the US sequence being reported from one wireless device from the US sequence being reported from one or more other wireless devices. The radio network node further receives an indication of the US sequence transmitted from one of the two or more wireless devices ( 10 ); and identifies the beam for the wireless device based on the received indication and the first and second parameters.

A method performed by a wireless device for facilitating beam selection in a wireless communications network, wherein the wireless device is configured to perform measurements on beam-formed reference signals (RS) and to use Uplink Signal (US) sequences to report selected beams, the method comprising:
receiving a beam-formed RS; and performing a transmission of a US sequence to a radio network node, wherein the US sequence is based on a first parameter indicating a mapping between the received beam-formed RS and the US sequence, and the transmission is performed by taking a second parameter into account, wherein the second parameter distinguishes the US sequence being reported from the wireless device from the same US sequence being reported from one or more other wireless devices.
56 . The method according to claim 55 , wherein the second parameter is a time offset and performing the transmission comprises transmitting the US sequence at a time based on the time offset.
57 . The method according to claim 55 , wherein the second parameter is a frequency offset and performing the transmission comprises transmitting the US sequence in a frequency based on the frequency offset.
58 . The method according to claim 55 , wherein the second parameter is an indication to use an identity of the wireless device, wherein the method further comprises adding the identity of the wireless device to the US sequence mapped to the received beam-formed RS and performing the transmission comprises transmitting the US sequence with the added identity.
59 . The method according to claim 55 , wherein the second parameter is an indication to use a scrambling sequence or function for the wireless device, wherein performing the transmission further comprises scrambling the US sequence using the scrambling sequence or function.
60 . The method according to claim 55 , further comprising receiving a configuration, wherein the configuration comprises the first parameter and/or the second parameter.
61 . The method according to claim 55 , further comprising receiving a transmission over the beam corresponding to the transmitted US sequence.
62 . The method according to claim 55 , wherein the wireless device is configured to use the US sequence also for a second beam-formed RS of a second beam and performing the transmission comprises transmitting the US sequence when deciding to report the beam-formed RS or the second beam-formed RS.
63 . A wireless device configured for facilitating beam selection in a wireless communications network, wherein the wireless device comprises:
transceiver circuitry configured for communicating with radio network nodes; and processing circuitry operatively associated with the transceiver circuitry and configured to:
receive a beam-formed reference signal (RS); and
perform a transmission of an Uplink Signal (US) sequence to a radio network node, wherein the US sequence is based on a first parameter indicating a mapping between the received beam-formed RS and the US sequence, and perform the transmission by taking a second parameter into account, wherein the second parameter distinguishes the US sequence being reported from the wireless device from the same US sequence being reported from one or more other wireless devices.
64 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the second parameter is a time offset and the processing circuitry is configured to perform the transmission by transmitting the US sequence at a time based on the time offset.
65 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the second parameter is a frequency offset and the processing circuitry is configured to perform the transmission by transmitting the US sequence in a frequency based on the frequency offset.
66 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the second parameter is an indication to use an identity of the wireless device, wherein the processing circuitry is configured to add an identity of the wireless device to the US sequence mapped to the received beam-formed RS and transmit the US sequence with the added identity.
67 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the second parameter is an indication to use a scrambling sequence or function for the wireless device, wherein the processing circuitry is configured to scramble the US sequence using the scrambling sequence or function.
68 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to receive a configuration, wherein the configuration comprises the first parameter and/or the second parameter.
69 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to receive a transmission over the beam corresponding to the transmitted US sequence.
70 . The wireless device according to claim 63 , wherein the processing circuitry is configured to use the US sequence also for a second beam-formed RS of a second beam and transmit the US sequence when deciding to report the beam-formed RS or the second beam-formed RS.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
