Abstract
Certain aspects relate to methods, apparatuses, computer readable mediums and access terminals that effectively (1) detect leaky or rogue access points and (2) take one or more actions based on such detection.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method of wireless communication comprising:
determining an initial duration of a first time period and of a second time period at the end of which the apparatus is to enter a power-save mode; transmitting an indication indicating that the apparatus will enter the power-save mode at the end of the first time period; monitoring for data packets from a wireless node during the second time period; receiving a data packet from the wireless node during the second time period; extending the duration of the second time period responsive to receiving the data packet; and entering the power-save mode at the end of the second time period.
2 . An apparatus for wireless communication comprising:
an interface configured to:
transmit an indication indicating that the apparatus will enter a power-save mode at the end of a first time period, and
receive a data packet from the wireless node during a second time period; and
a processing system configured to:
determine an initial duration of the first time period and of the second time period at the end of which the apparatus is to enter the power-save mode,
monitor for data packets from a wireless node during the second time period,
extend the duration of the second time period responsive to receiving the data packet, and
enter the power-save mode at the end of the second time period.
3 . A method of wireless communication comprising:
receiving a first data packet from a wireless node, the first data packet having a first sequence number; entering a power-save mode after receiving the first data packet; exiting the power-save mode after entering the power-save mode; receiving a second data packet from the wireless node after exiting the power-save mode, the second data packet having a second sequence number; determining a difference between the first sequence number and the second sequence number; and responsive to determining that the difference is greater than a threshold value, refraining from re-entering the power-save mode.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising transmitting an indication, after receiving the first data packet and prior to entering the power-save mode, indicating that the apparatus will enter the power-save mode.
5 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining an initial duration of a time period at the end of which the apparatus is to re-enter the power-save mode, wherein refraining from re-entering the power-save mode responsive to determining that the difference is greater than a threshold value comprises refraining from re-entering the power-save mode at the end of the initial duration of the time period.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein refraining from re-entering the power-save mode at the end of the initial duration of the time period comprises extending the duration of the time period past the initial duration.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising re-entering the power-save mode at the end of the extended duration of the time period.
8 . An apparatus for wireless communication comprising:
an interface configured to:
receive a first data packet from a wireless node, the first data packet having a first sequence number, and
receive a second data packet from the wireless node after exiting a power-save mode, the second data packet having a second sequence number; and
a processing system configured to:
enter the power-save mode after receiving the first data packet and prior to receiving the second data packet,
exit the power-save mode after entering the power-save mode and prior to receiving the second data packet,
determine a difference between the first sequence number and the second sequence number, and
responsive to determining that the difference is greater than a threshold value, refrain from re-entering the power-save mode.
9 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein:
the processing system is further configured to generate an indication indicating that the apparatus will enter the power-save mode; and the interface is further configured to transmit the indication after receiving the first data packet and prior to entering the power-save mode.
10 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the processing system is further configured to determine an initial duration of a time period at the end of which the apparatus is to re-enter the power-save mode, wherein refraining from re-entering the power-save mode responsive to determining that the difference is greater than a threshold value comprises refraining from re-entering the power-save mode at the end of the initial duration of the time period.
11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein refraining from re-entering the power-save mode at the end of the initial duration of the time period comprises extending the duration of the time period past the initial duration.
12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the processing system is further configured to re-enter the power-save mode at the end of the extended duration of the time period.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
