Abstract
An article of apparel including a delivery layer and a component releasable from the layer is disclosed. In an embodiment, the apparel includes a textile base layer the delivery layer oriented to contact the skin of the wearer. The delivery layer is formed from a composition including the releasable component. In another embodiment, the textile is formed of strands coated with the releasable component. In still further embodiments, the strands are formed of the releasable component. The apparel may release the component to the skin of the wearer.

3 . An article of apparel comprising a shirt configured to be worn on a torso of a user, the article of apparel comprising:
a knit textile layer comprising a natural yarn, a synthetic yarn, or a combination of natural and synthetic yarns, the knit textile layer including a first, user-facing surface and a second surface opposite the first surface; and a discontinuous print layer onto the first, user-facing surface of the base textile, the discontinuous print layer comprising a dissolvable binder, wherein the knit textile layer possesses air permeability of about 75 cfm to about 205 cfm.
4 . The article of apparel according to claim 3 , wherein the discontinuous layer comprises a plurality of units organized in rows and columns along the first surface of the textile layer to define covered textile areas and uncovered textile areas.
5 . The article of apparel according to claim 4 , wherein the ratio of covered textile area to uncovered textile area on the first textile surface is approximately 3:1.
6 . The article of apparel according to claim 5 , wherein the discontinuous print layer further comprises an alloy.
7 . The article of apparel according to claim 6 , wherein the alloy comprises a primary alkaline earth metal, a secondary alkaline earth metal, and a transition metal.
8 . The article of apparel according to claim 1 , wherein the discontinuous layer further comprises magnesium.
9 . The article of apparel according to claim 3 , wherein the discontinuous layer further comprises about 90 wt % to about 99 wt % primary alkaline earth metal, about 0.1 wt % to about 3 wt % secondary alkaline earth metal; and about 0.1 wt % to about 6 wt % transition metal (e.g., zinc).
10 . The article of apparel according to claim 9 , wherein the primary alkaline earth metal is magnesium.
11 . The article of apparel according to claim 10 , wherein the secondary alkaline earth metal is selected from the group consisting of beryllium (Be), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), and combinations of one or more thereof.
12 . The article of apparel according to claim 11 , wherein the transition metal selected from the group consisting of zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), and manganese (Mn).
13 . The article of apparel according to claim 13 , wherein the transition metal is zinc (Zn).
14 . The article of apparel according to claim 3 , wherein the binder is a polymer selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides, microbial polyesters, aliphatic polyesters, polyester polyethers, and polyamino acids and polylactic acids.
15 . That article of apparel according to claim 3 , wherein the printed layer further comprises material that is transferred to the user while the shirt is being worn.
