 receiving, over a network connection, a gift purchase request;
 processing, by the system, the gift purchase request;

         5 . The system of claim 4 , the operations further comprising:
 receiving, over the network connection, a response to the notification indicating the acceptance of the gift.

         6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the gift purchase request includes at least one gift and merchants available for selection.

         10 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
 prior to the redemption of the gift, transmitting a notification of the gift to a gift recipient, wherein the notification includes prompting the gift recipient to accept or reject the gift.

         11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
 receiving a response to the notification indicating acceptance of the gift.

         12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein in response to receiving the gift purchase request, the gift purchase amount is deducted from a user account associated with the first user.
