Abstract

An apparatus for determining balance compensation includes a platform, sensors and a processor. The platform is configured for a person to stand on the platform. The sensors are coupled to the platform and measure at least one of a weight and a pressure. The processor determines a balance of the person based on the measurements of the sensors.

1 . An apparatus for determining balance compensation, comprising:
 a sensor configured to measure at least one of a weight, a pressure, and an angle for at least one direction; and   a processor configured to determine a balance of a person based on measurements of the sensor.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising a display configured to display the determined balance. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine the balance by determining a center of gravity or a torso angle. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 3 , wherein the processor is configured to determine the center of gravity or the torso angle with respect to at least two axes. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the processor is configured to determine a type of balance dysfunction based on the center of gravity or the torso angle relative to the axes. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 3 , wherein
 a plurality of directions are defined based on the center of gravity axes or the torso angle axes,   the processor is configured to identify at least one of the directions based on the determined balance, and   the processor is configured to determine at least one of a weight size and placement for a balance correction device based on the identified direction.   
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 3 , wherein
 the processor is configured to determine a vector for the balance based on the center of gravity axes or the torso angle axes, and   the processor is configured to determine at least one of a weight size or placement for a balance correction device based on at least one of a direction and magnitude of the vector.   
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine a weight placement for a balance correction device based on the determined balance. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine a weight size for a balance correction device based on the determined balance. 
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine whether a tremor is present by comparing the balance to a previously determined balance. 
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine a plurality of balance data points over a period of time and identify a tremor based on a distribution of the data points. 
     
     
         12 . A method, comprising:
 providing a sensor configured for a person to stand on or wear the sensor;   measuring, using the sensor, a plurality of measurement signals respectively including at least one of weight, pressure, and angle measurements for at least one direction;   determining a balance of the person based on the measurement signals.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising displaying the determined balance. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the determining the balance includes determining a center of gravity or a torso angle of the person. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the determining the balance includes determining the center of gravity or the torso angle of the person with respect to at least two axes. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising determining a type of balance disfunction based on the center of gravity or the torso angle relative to the axes. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising identifying at least one of a plurality of directions defined based on the center of gravity axes or the torso angle axes, and determining at least one of a weight size and placement for a balance correction device based on the identified direction. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising determining at least one of a weight size and placement for a balance correction device based on the determined balance. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising determining whether a tremor is present be comparing the balance to a previously determined balance. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising determining a plurality of balance data points over a period of time and identifying a tremor based on a distribution of the data points.
