Abstract

[Abstract] To support transfer of an application to an external device in an apparatus that performs a control of the application using an AIT. [Solving Means] An application destination descriptor (Application_destination_discriptor) for specifying a corresponding device of an application is newly provided as an application descriptor of an AIT. An information processing apparatus determines based on this application destination descriptor whether or not the application is an application for its own device or an application for an external device. If the application is the application for the external device, the information processing apparatus transfers the application to the external device to start it.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 7 . (canceled)

         8 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
 circuitry configured to:
 receive and process audiovisual broadcast content;
 acquire an application information table including an application validity period descriptor for determining a validity period of an application to be executed concurrently with the audiovisual broadcast content;
 determine whether the validity period of the application has expired; and
 perform deletion processing in response to a determination that the validity period of the application has expired.

         9 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the deletion processing includes at least one of:
 deleting the application, generating a user indication that the validity period of the application has expired, or deleting the application after receiving user confirmation.

         10 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the deletion processing includes generating a user notification to delete the application.

         11 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the application is being executed, temporarily stopped, or stopped before the deletion processing is performed.

         12 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the circuitry is configured to enable a user to set the deletion processing in advance.

         13 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the circuitry is configured to:
 determine whether the application validity period descriptor is present in the application information table; and determine the validity period in accordance with the application validity period descriptor if it is determined that the application validity period descriptor is present in the application information table.

         14 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the circuitry is configured to download the application according to the application information table.

         15 . The apparatus of claim 8 , further comprising a display, wherein the circuitry is configured to output video of the processed audiovisual broadcast content to the display.

         16 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the application information table includes an application destination descriptor including information indicative of a device for executing the application.

         17 . An information processing method, comprising:
 receiving and processing audiovisual broadcast content; acquiring, by circuitry of an information processing apparatus, an application information table including an application validity period descriptor for determining a validity period of an application to be executed concurrently with the audiovisual broadcast content; determining whether the validity period of the application has expired; and performing deletion processing in response to determining that the validity period of the application has expired.

         18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the deletion processing includes at least one of:
 deleting the application, generating a user indication that the validity period of the application has expired, or deleting the application after receiving user confirmation.

         19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the deletion processing includes generating a user notification to delete the application.

         20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the application is being executed, temporarily stopped, or stopped before performing the deletion processing.

         21 . The method of claim 17 comprising receiving user input to set the deletion processing in advance.

         22 . The method of claim 17 comprising:
 determining whether the application validity period descriptor is present in the application information table; and
 determining the validity period in accordance with the application validity period descriptor if it is determined that the application validity period descriptor is present in the application information table.

         23 . The method of claim 17 comprising downloading the application according to the application information table.

         24 . The method of claim 17 comprising outputting video of the processed audiovisual broadcast content to a display.

         25 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the application information table includes an application destination descriptor including information indicative of a device for executing the application.

         26 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions which when executed by a processor of an information processing apparatus cause the information processing apparatus to:
 receive and process audiovisual broadcast content; acquire an application information table in which an application validity period descriptor for determining a validity period of an application to be executed concurrently with the audiovisual broadcast content is set; determine whether the validity period of the application has expired; and perform deletion processing in response to a determination that the validity period of the application has expired.
