Abstract
Systems and methods allow LAA LTE equipment to coexist with other services in the unlicensed band such as WIFI or WLAN services. Systems and methods use LTE reference signals in the unlicensed spectrum that are not continuous and can be interrupted by a WIFI signal or other services in the unlicensed band or use a dynamic LAA ON burst or window to provide the LTE reference signals in some embodiments. The systems and methods can detect the presence of LTE signals using a one or more of a number of techniques.

1 . A method, comprising:
providing a request for a repeatable window for transmitting LTE reference signals in an unlicensed spectrum; and transmitting the LTE reference signals in the unlicensed band during the repeatable window.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the LTE reference signals comprise one or more of a cell specific reference signal (CRS), a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a positioning reference signal (PRS), a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), or a discovery reference signals (DRS) signal.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the repeatable window is a periodic window.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the periodic window is used to transmit LTE-U or LAA LTE data if the LTE-U or LAA-LTE data is at least part of a burst communication.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the request is provided by an LAA-LTE device.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the request is provided according to CSMA/CA procedures.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the request indicating a repetitive window position and a window length of the repeatable window.
8 . A wireless device, comprising circuitry configured to:
provide a request for a repeatable window for transmitting LTE reference signals in an unlicensed spectrum; and transmit the LTE reference signals in the unlicensed band during the repeatable window.

The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the LTE reference signals comprise one or more of a cell specific reference signal (CRS), a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a positioning reference signal (PRS), a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), or a discovery reference signals (DRS) signal.
10 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the repeatable window is a periodic window.
11 . The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the periodic window is used to transmit LTE-U or LAA LTE data if the LTE-U or LAA-LTE data is at least part of a burst communication.
12 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the request is provided by an LAA-LTE device.
13 . The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the request is provided according to CSMA/CA procedures.
14 . The wireless device of claim 8 , wherein the request indicating a repetitive window position and a window length of the repeatable window.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a program executable by processing circuitry, the program being configured to:
provide a request for a repeatable window for transmitting LTE reference signals in an unlicensed spectrum; and transmit the LTE reference signals in the unlicensed band during the repeatable window.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the LTE reference signals comprise one or more of a cell specific reference signal (CRS), a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a positioning reference signal (PRS), a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), or a discovery reference signals (DRS) signal.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the repeatable window is a periodic window.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the periodic window is used to transmit LTE-U or LAA LTE data if the LTE-U or LAA-LTE data is at least part of a burst communication.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the request is provided by an LAA-LTE device.
