Abstract
Embodiments of golf clubs and methods of manufacture are described herein. Other embodiments and related methods are also disclosed herein.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A golf club head comprising:
a club head body with a volume between 50 cm 3 and 150 cm 3 ; a heel; a toe opposite the heel; a top rail; a sole opposite the top rail; a strikeface comprising a leading edge; a hosel comprising a hosel axis; and a center of gravity, the center of gravity having a center of gravity height, the center of gravity height being measured between the sole and the center of gravity in a sole to top rail direction, and the center of gravity height is equal to 1.73 cm; wherein the club head further comprises:
a first distance, the first distance being measured between the center of gravity and the hosel axis, the first distance being measured parallel to the strikeface, and the first distance is greater than or equal to 3.81 cm and less than or equal to 4.82 cm;
a second distance, the second distance being measured between a first plane intersecting the hosel axis and the center of gravity, and the second distance is equal to 1.85 cm; and
a third distance, the third distance being measured between a second plane intersecting the leading edge of the strikeface and the center of gravity, and the third distance is equal to 2.18 cm;
wherein the first and second planes are perpendicular to a third plane representing a ground surface when the club head body is at an address position.
2 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein:
a first ratio of a moment of inertia versus a mass of the club head is greater than approximately 12 cm 2 ; and a second ratio of a moment of inertia versus a volume of the club head is greater than approximately 25 g/cm.
3 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein:
the strikeface comprises an insert that couples to the club head body.
4 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein a widest portion of the club head body is at least one of:
located at the toe; located closer to the toe than the heel; or located between the toe and a midpoint between the toe and the heel.
5 . The golf club head of claim 4 , wherein the widest portion of the club head body ranges between 4.5 cm to 5.5 cm.
6 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the club head body comprises a loft angle greater than or equal to 17 degrees and less than or equal to 31 degrees.
7 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a fourth distance, the fourth distance being measured between the third plane and a bottom edge of the strikeface when the club head body is at the address position, and the fourth distance is equal to 4.826 mm.
8 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a fifth distance, the fifth distance being measured between the strikeface and the center of gravity in a direction perpendicular to the strikeface, and the fifth distance is equal to 1.42 cm.
9 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the club head body further includes a weight located on the sole of the club head body.
10 . The golf club head of claim 1 , wherein the first distance is equal to approximately 4.31 cm.
11 . A golf club head comprising:
a club head body with a volume between 50 cm 3 and 150 cm 3 ; a heel; a toe opposite the heel; a top rail; a sole opposite the top rail; a strikeface comprising a leading edge; a hosel comprising a hosel axis; and a center of gravity, the center of gravity having a center of gravity height, the center of gravity height being measured between the sole and the center of gravity in a sole to top rail direction, and the center of gravity height is equal to 1.73 cm; wherein the club head further comprises:
a first distance, the first distance being measured between the center of gravity and the hosel axis, and the first distance being measured parallel to the strikeface, and the first distance is greater than or equal to 3.81 cm and less than or equal to 4.82 cm;
a second distance, the second distance is measured between a first plane intersecting the hosel axis and the center of gravity, and the second distance is equal to 1.77 cm; and
a third distance, the third distance is measured between a second plane intersecting the leading edge of the strikeface and the center of gravity, and the third distance is equal to 1.86 cm;
wherein the first and second planes are perpendicular to a third plane representing a ground surface when the club head body is at an address position.
12 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein:
a first ratio of a moment of inertia versus a mass of the club head is greater than approximately 12 cm 2 ; and a second ratio of a moment of inertia versus a volume of the club head is greater than approximately 25 g/cm.
13 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein:
the strikeface comprises an insert that couples to the club head body.
14 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein a widest portion of the club head body is at least one of:
located at the toe; located closer to the toe than the heel; or located between the toe and a midpoint between the toe and the heel.
15 . The golf club head of claim 14 , wherein the widest portion of the club head body ranges between 4.5 cm to 5.5 cm.
16 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the club head body comprises a loft angle greater than or equal to 17 degrees and less than or equal to 31 degrees.
17 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a fourth distance, the fourth distance being measured between the third plane and a bottom edge of the strikeface when the club head body is at the address position, and the fourth distance is equal to 4.826 mm.
18 . The golf club head of claim 11 , wherein the golf club head further comprises a fifth distance, the fifth distance being measured between the strikeface and the center of gravity in a direction perpendicular to the strikeface, and the fifth distance is equal to 1.42 cm.
