Abstract

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate notifying and detecting modification of system information in a wireless communication system. A mobile device may detect an inability to receive a paging message transmitted by a base station during a first time period, receive at least one system information block (SIB) transmitted by the base station during a second time period, and determine whether to receive one or more additional SIBs transmitted by the base station in the second time period based on information obtained from the at least one SIB received. The mobile device may detect an inability to receive a paging message upon entering a cell from being out of service or upon initial device starting up. The mobile device may determine whether to receive one or more additional SIBs by comparing a value tag of the at least one SIB received to a previously stored value tag.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method for wireless communication, comprising:
 receiving a first system information block comprising system information; receiving, in a first modification period, an indication of a modification to the system information for a second modification period that follows the first modification period; determining, based at least in part on the received indication, to receive, in the second modification period, a second system information block comprising modified system information.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 communicating, subsequent to receiving the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period, based at least in part on the system information.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 maintaining the system information subsequent to receiving the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period.

         4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication of the modification to the system information is received in a paging message.

         5 . An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:
 at least one processor configured to:
 receive a first system information block comprising system information;
 receive, in a first modification period, an indication of a modification to the system information for a second modification period that follows the first modification period;
 determine, based at least in part on the received indication, to receive, in the second modification period, a second system information block comprising modified system information.

         6 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
 communicate, subsequent to receiving the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period, based at least in part on the system information.

         7 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
 maintain the system information subsequent to receiving the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period.

         8 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the indication of the modification to the system information is received in a paging message.

         9 . An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:
 means for receiving a first system information block comprising system information; means for receiving, in a first modification period, an indication of a modification to the system information for a second modification period that follows the first modification period; means for determining, based at least in part on the received indication, to receive, in the second modification period, a second system information block comprising modified system information.

         10 . A computer program product, comprising:
 a non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising:
 code for causing at least one computer to receive a first system information block comprising system information;
 code for causing at least one computer to receive, in a first modification period, an indication of a modification to the system information for a second modification period that follows the first modification period;
 code for causing at least one computer to determine, based at least in part on the received indication, to receive, in the second modification period, a second system information block comprising modified system information.

         11 . A method for wireless communication, comprising:
 transmitting a first system information block comprising system information; transmitting, in a first modification period, an indication of a modification to the system information for a second modification period that follows the first modification period; transmitting, in the second modification period, a second system information block comprising modified system information.

         12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
 transmitting, subsequent to transmitting the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period, a third system information block comprising the system information.

         13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
 communicating with a user equipment, subsequent to transmitting the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period, based at least in part on the system information.

         14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the indication of the modification to the system information is transmitted in a paging message.

         15 . An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:
 at least one processor configured to:
 transmit a first system information block comprising system information;
 transmit, in a first modification period, an indication of a modification to the system information for a second modification period that follows the first modification period;
 transmit, in the second modification period, a second system information block comprising modified system information.

         16 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
 transmit, subsequent to transmitting the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period, a third system information block comprising the system information.

         17 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
 communicate, subsequent to transmitting the indication of the modification and prior to a boundary of the second modification period, based at least in part on the system information.

         18 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the indication of the modification to the system information is transmitted in a paging message.
