Single-Handed Approach for Navigation of Application Tiles Using Panning and Zooming
Abstract
An electronic device with a touch-screen display displays, on the touch-screen display, a view of a first application that is updated as content of the application changes. While the view of the first application is displayed on the display, the device detects a drag input across the touch-screen display, and in response to detecting the drag input across the touch-screen display, brings a view of a second application onto the display, wherein the view of the second application was not displayed on the display prior to detecting the drag. In some embodiments, the view of the second application represents a current state of the second application. In some embodiments, in response to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display, the device concurrently displays views of a plurality of different applications.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising,
at an electronic device with a touch-screen display:
displaying, on the touch-screen display, a view of a first application that is updated as content of the application changes;
while the view of the first application is displayed on the display, detecting a drag input across the touch-screen display;
in response to detecting the drag input across the touch-screen display, bringing a view of a second application onto the display, wherein the view of the second application was not displayed on the display prior to detecting the drag.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the view of the second application represents a current state of the second application.
3 . The method of claim 1 , including, in response to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display, concurrently displaying on the touch-sensitive display views of a plurality of different applications.
4 . The method of claim 3 , including determining the plurality of applications for which views are displayed in accordance with a direction of the drag input across the touch-screen display, wherein views of different applications are brought onto the display in response to the drag input across the touch-screen being in first and second different directions.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further including, in response to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display, displaying a plurality of representations of applications, including, for a respective application, a summary of content corresponding to the respective application.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein one of the representations includes a number of unread messages associated with a respective messaging application.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, displaying a plurality of views of different applications concurrently on the touch-screen display, and subsequently, displaying a zooming animation that transitions from the concurrent display of the plurality of views of different applications to the display of a view of a single application of the different applications.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, in response to a user input on the touch-sensitive display, displaying a zooming animation that transitions from display of a view of a single respective application to concurrent display of a views of a plurality of different applications, the plurality of different applications including the respective application.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, displaying a back control on the touch-screen display, and in response to a user input on the back control, displaying a previously displayed view or screen.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, in response to a tap input on the touch-sensitive display, transitioning from a current view of a respective application to an enlarged view of the respective application.
11 . A computer readable storage medium storing programs, including a plurality of applications, the programs comprising instructions, which when executed by an electronic device with a touch-screen display, cause the electronic device to:
display, on the touch-screen display, a view of a first application that is updated as content of the application changes; while the view of the first application is displayed on the display, detect a drag input across the touch-screen display; in response to detecting the drag input across the touch-screen display, bring a view of a second application onto the display, wherein the view of the second application was not displayed on the display prior to detecting the drag.
12 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the view of the second application represents a current state of the second application.
13 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the programs include instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: respond to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display by concurrently displaying on the touch-sensitive display views of a plurality of different applications.
14 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the programs include instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: determine the plurality of applications for which views are displayed in accordance with a direction of the drag input across the touch-screen display, wherein views of different applications are brought onto the display in response to the drag input across the touch-screen being in first and second different directions.
15 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the programs include instructions, which when executed by the electronic device, cause the electronic device to: respond to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display by displaying a plurality of representations of applications, including, for a respective application, a summary of content corresponding to the respective application.
16 . An electronic device, comprising:
a touch screen display; one or more processors; memory; and programs, including a plurality of applications, wherein the programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the programs including instructions for:
displaying, on the touch-screen display, a view of a first application that is updated as content of the application changes;
while the view of the first application is displayed on the display, detecting a drag input across the touch-screen display;
in response to detecting the drag input across the touch-screen display, bringing a view of a second application onto the display, wherein the view of the second application was not displayed on the display prior to detecting the drag.
17 . The electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the view of the second application represents a current state of the second application.
18 . The electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the programs include instructions for, in response to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display, concurrently displaying on the touch-sensitive display views of a plurality of different applications.
19 . The electronic device of claim 18 , wherein the programs include instructions for, determining the plurality of applications for which views are displayed in accordance with a direction of the drag input across the touch-screen display, wherein views of different applications are brought onto the display in response to the drag input across the touch-screen being in first and second different directions.
20 . The electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the programs include instructions for, in response to a gesture detected on the touch-screen display, displaying a plurality of representations of applications, including, for a respective application, a summary of content corresponding to the respective application.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
