Claims

Abstract

A golf club device for improving one's golf abilities is disclosed. The device includes a head, and a shaft where the head is rotatably connected to at least an upper portion of the shaft. Rotation is achieved with an angular rotation mechanism. The angular rotation mechanism may include a variable resistance feature. The angular rotation mechanism may be positioned in or on the head, or it may be positioned in the shaft. One or more visual alignment indicators may also be employed.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A putter comprising:
 a shaft;   a head having a shape that is not symmetrical about a center between a front surface and a back surface of the head;   an angular rotation mechanism including a rolling element located in the head to allow the head to rotate relative to the shaft in a plane parallel to a bottom surface of the head; and   a variable resistance mechanism to adjust the resistance of rotation of the angular rotation mechanism.   
     
     
         2 . The putter of  claim 1 , wherein
 the variable resistance mechanism is configured to vary an amount of rotational resistance of the angular rotation mechanism such that the amount of rotational resistance can be variably increased or variably decreased;   wherein when the resistance of rotation of the angular rotation mechanism is variably increased by the variable resistance mechanism, the degree of rotation of the head is decreased in response to a miss hit of a golf ball, which results in a decreased amount of rotation of the head,   wherein when the resistance of rotation of the angular rotation mechanism is variably decreased by the variable resistance mechanism, the degree of rotation of the head is increased in response to a miss hit of the golf ball, which results in an increased amount of rotation of the head   
     
     
         3 . The putter of  claim 2 , wherein the resistance of rotation of the angular rotation mechanism can be increased to a level of resistance such that the head does not rotate relative to the shaft. 
     
     
         4 . The putter of  claim 1 , wherein the angular rotation mechanism comprises a bearing. 
     
     
         5 . The putter of  claim 1 , wherein the grip includes a plurality of uniformly spaced graduation marks. 
     
     
         6 . The putter of  claim 1 , wherein the head is detachably coupled to the shaft. 
     
     
         7 . The putter of  claim 1 , wherein the rolling element is embedded in the head flush with or below a top surface of the head. 
     
     
         8 . The putter of  claim 1 , wherein the top surface of the head is planar.
