Abstract

An imaging apparatus is provided which comprises: an imaging unit 22 that captures an image through an optical system and outputs an image signal corresponding to the captured image; a focus detection unit 21 that uses the image signal as the basis to detect a focal state of the optical system at a plurality of focus detection positions set in an image plane of the optical system; a calculation unit 21 that calculates a limit value at a closing side of an aperture value of the optical system as a closing side limit value, the limit value corresponding to a focus detection position when the focus detection unit 21 performs focus detection; and a control unit 21 that, when the focus detection unit 21 performs focus detection, sets the aperture value of the optical system on the basis of the closing side limit value corresponding to the focus detection position for performing focus detection.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 11 . (canceled)

12 . An imaging apparatus comprising:
an imaging unit that captures an image through an optical system including an aperture and that outputs a signal captured; a communication unit that receives information of the optical system from a lens barrel including the optical system; a focus detection unit that detects a focused state of the optical system based on the signal; and a setting unit that sets an aperture value of the aperture for detecting the focused state by the focus detection unit based on the information of the optical system.

13 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 12 , wherein
the focus detection unit detects the focused state at a plurality of positions on an imaging plane of the imaging unit; and the setting unit sets the aperture value of the aperture based on a position of the plurality of positions at which the focus detection unit detects the focused state.

14 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 13 , wherein
the setting unit sets the aperture value of the aperture based on a distance from a center position of the imaging unit to the position at which the focus detection unit detects the focused state.

15 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 13 , wherein
the setting unit sets the aperture value of the aperture to a smaller value as a distance from a center position of the imaging unit to the position at which the focus detection unit detects the focused state becomes larger.

16 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 12 , wherein the information of the optical system, received by the communication unit, is information of a position of an exit pupil of the optical system.

17 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 16 , wherein the setting unit sets the aperture value of the aperture for detecting the focused state by the focus detection unit to a larger value as a difference between the position of the exit pupil of the optical system and a position of a distance measuring pupil of the imaging unit becomes smaller.

18 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 12 ,
wherein the setting units sets a limit value at a closing side of the aperture value of the aperture for detecting the focused state by the focus detection unit based on the information of the optical system.

19 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 18 , further comprising an instruction operation unit that instructs the imaging unit to capture the image,
 wherein the setting unit:
 sets the limit value at a closing side of an aperture value of the optical system for detecting the focused state by the focus detection unit;
sets the aperture value to the limit value when an imaging aperture value is larger than the limit value; and
sets the aperture value to the imaging aperture value when the imaging aperture value is smaller than the limit value, and
wherein the imaging aperture value is an aperture value of the aperture which is set for imaging based on instruction of the instruction operation unit.

20 . The imaging apparatus as recited in claim 12 , wherein the communication unit transmits information on the aperture value of the aperture, set by the setting unit, to the lens barrel including the optical system.
