Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for dynamically modifying data scrub rates based on RAID analysis. The method includes determining a grouping for an array based on a temperature for the array, a configurable threshold temperature range for the array, and an I/O distribution of the array. The method further includes modifying the data scrub rate for the array based on the grouping.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer program product comprising:
one or more non-transitory computer readable storage media and program instructions stored on said one or more non-transitory computer readable storage media, said program instructions comprising instructions to: program instructions to determine a grouping for an array of a plurality of arrays based, at least in part, on a temperature for the array, a configurable threshold temperature range for the array, and an I/O distribution of the array, wherein the program instructions to determine a grouping of the array of a plurality of arrays comprises:
program instructions to determine a temperature of each array of the plurality of arrays, and
program instructions to determine I/O distribution of each array of the plurality; and
program instructions to modify a data scrub rate for the array based, at least in part, on the grouping of the array, wherein modifying the data scrub rate of the array consists of:
program instructions to, in response to the array being grouped as exceeding the configurable threshold temperature range, decrease the data scrub rate of the array,
program instructions to, in response to the array being grouped as within the configurable threshold temperature range, maintain the data scrub rate of the array,
program instructions to, in response to the array being grouped as below the configurable temperature threshold range, increase the data scrub rate of the array,
program instructions to, in response to the I/O distribution of the array being constant, maintain the data scrub rate of the array,
program instructions to, in response to the I/O distribution of the array decreasing, increase the data scrub rate of the array, and
program instructions to, in response to the grouping of the array as the I/O distribution increasing, restore the data scrub rate of the array to a preconfigured rate by decreasing the data scrub rate of the array.
