Abstract
Described herein are packaging systems having a receptacle and one or a plurality of expandable members that are configured to move from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. In some variations the expandable member includes one or a plurality of folded pieces of material (e.g., tissue paper or fabric (e.g., tulle)), which are attached to the receptacle. In the expanded configuration, the expandable member(s) obscure an object (e.g., a gift) placed within the receptacle without closing the receptacle.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 15 : (canceled)
: A packaging system, comprising:
a receptacle comprising a bottom and a first side; and an expandable member attached to an interior surface of the first side of the receptacle and movable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration while attached to the receptacle, wherein in the collapsed configuration, the expandable member is folded into a plurality of sections, and wherein every section of the plurality of sections is fixed relative to the first side of the receptacle in both the collapsed and expanded configurations.
: The packing system of claim 16 , wherein the expandable member is attached to an upper portion of the interior surface of the first side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the expandable member is attached horizontally to the interior surface of the first side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the expandable member is attached vertically to the interior surface of the first side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the packaging system is configured to fold flat.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the receptacle comprises a bag, a box, or a basket.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of sections are fixed to one another at an attachment point.
: The packaging system of claim 22 , wherein the expandable member is fixed to the receptacle at the attachment point.
: The packaging system of claim 23 , wherein the expandable member is configured to radially expand about the attachment point.
: The packaging system of claim 23 , wherein the attachment point is at a midpoint of the expandable member or at an end of the expandable member.
: The packaging system of claim 23 , wherein the attachment point is at a midpoint of the first side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 23 , wherein the plurality of sections are fixed to one another and to the receptacle via a single attachment feature.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the expandable member is removably attached to the receptacle via a snap or a magnetic element.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the expandable member comprises tissue paper.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein in the collapsed configuration, the expandable member lies flat against the interior surface of the first side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the expandable member comprises a plurality of layers.
: The packaging system of claim 16 , wherein the receptacle further comprises a second side opposite the first side, and the packaging system further comprises a second expandable member attached to an interior surface of the second side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 32 , wherein the second expandable member is attached to an upper portion of the interior surface of the second side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 32 , wherein the second expandable member is movable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration while attached to the receptacle, wherein in the collapsed configuration, the second expandable member comprises a plurality of sections, and wherein every section of the plurality of sections of the second expandable member is fixed relative to the second side of the receptacle.
: The packaging system of claim 34 , wherein the plurality of sections of the second expandable member are fixed to one another at a second attachment point.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
