Retractable high heel for shoes

Abstract

A retractable heel for a shoe is described herein comprising an upper heel body and a retractable lower heel body. The lower heel body is may be placed in at least two configurations. In a first configuration, with the lower heel body retracted, the upper heel body may contact the ground when the shoe is worn. In a second configuration, with the lower heel body not retracted, the upper heel body may not contact the ground when the shoe is worn, being prevented from doing so by the lower heel body.

         21 . A shoe, comprising:
 a heel attached to a heel portion of the shoes of the pair of shoes, comprising:
 an upper heel body, made of a first material, including a circular indentation within the upper heel body, a first retention slot corresponding to a first heel position at a first height, and a second retention slot corresponding to a second heel position in which the heel points forward relative to a person when the heel is worn by the person at a second height lower relative to the first height, wherein the second retention slot further comprises a cavity within an outer portion of the upper heel body, wherein the cavity is larger than an outer perimeter of the lower heel body to allow the lower heel body to be secured to the upper heel body; 
 a circular disk, made of a second material, within the circular indentation of the upper heel body providing an axis to pivot a lower heel body, the circular disk including a cut out comprising a first cut out portion that is wider then a second cut out portion and a compressible spring that when at least partially uncompressed applies pressure a portion of a connector bar; 
 the connector bar, made of the second material, that has a wider portion at a distal end relative to a point of attachment of the lower heel body, the wider portion being larger than the second cut out potion of the circular disk to prevent the connector bar from moving fully through the cut out of the circular disk; wherein the connector bar pivots around a point relative to a center of the circular disk; and 
   the shoe, comprising:
 a toe portion at a distal end relative to the heel portion; and 
 a body made of a third material. 
   
     
     
         22 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the first height corresponds to the heel position associated with a high heel. 
     
     
         23 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the first material is plastic and the second material is metal. 
     
     
         24 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the first retention slot further comprises a first outer perimeter that is less than an inner perimeter of the lower heel body to allow the lower heel body to be secured to the upper heel body by at least preventing the circular disk from moving. 
     
     
         25 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein an inner radius of the circular indentation is larger than an outer radius of the circular disk such that the circular disk is retained within the circular indentation and rotates a number of degrees within the circular indentation. 
     
     
         26 . The shoe of  claim 25 , wherein the circular indentation includes a third retention slot corresponding to a retracted position of the lower heel body and a fourth retention slot corresponding to a non-retracted position of the lower heel body. 
     
     
         27 . The shoe of  claim 26 , wherein the third retention slot is located on an inner radius of the circular indentation and prevents the distal end of the connector bar relative to the point of attachment of the lower heel body from moving beyond the retracted position of the lower heel body. 
     
     
         28 . The shoe of  claim 26 , wherein the fourth retention slot is located on an inner radius of the circular indentation and accepts the distal end of the connector bar relative to the point of attachment of the lower heel body when in the non-retracted position of the lower heel body. 
     
     
         29 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the connector bar is affixed to the lower heel body. 
     
     
         30 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the wider portion of the connector bar is L-Shaped. 
     
     
         31 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the second cut out portion is narrower than the first cut out portion on one side of the cut out 
     
     
         32 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the lower heel body is placed in a non-retracted position by at least pulling the lower heel body away from the upper heel body, when the lower heel body is in a retracted position causing the connector bar to travel along an axis of the cut out of the circular disk until movement is prevent as a result of the wider portion of the connector bar making contact with the second cut out portion of the cut out. 
     
     
         33 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein cut out of the circular disk restricts motion of the connector bar in at least one other direction than a direction prevented by the second cut out portion of the cut out. 
     
     
         34 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the lower heel body is affixed to the connector bar by molding the lower heel body around the connector bar and the third material is the same material as the first material. 
     
     
         35 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the upper heel body includes a pivot slot located on an open end of the circular indentation, the pivot slot comprising an arc with a first end corresponding to the first retention slot and a second end location corresponding to the second retention slot. 
     
     
         36 . The shoe of  claim 35 , wherein the pivot slot provides an opening within the upper heel body to allow the connector bar to move within when the lower heel body is in a plurality of positions. 
     
     
         37 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the first material and the second material are the same material. 
     
     
         38 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein the lower heel body and the upper heel body are plastic. 
     
     
         39 . The shoe of  claim 21 , wherein a width the cut out of the circular disk is less than a diameter of the circular disk and a third portion of the cut out extends beyond the diameter of the circular disk. 
     
     
         40 . The shoe of  claim 39 , wherein at least one dimension of the connector bar is less than the width of the cut out of the circular disk.
