Systems and methods for creating rated and curated spectator feeds
Abstract
Methods and systems for a media guidance application that may enhance viewer experience. The media guidance application may receive video assets from content capture devices at different locations, determine characteristics of the media assets and assign content tags, corresponding to the characteristics, to the media assets. The media guidance application may receive a video-feed request from another location and determine video feed criterion associated with the request. The media guidance application may use a database to determine media assets with characteristics matching the video feed criterion, and may generate for display the media assets in a video feed.

51 . A method for creating personalized video feeds, the method comprising:
receiving, at a server, a first video asset transmitted from a first content capture device at a first location; determining a characteristic of the first video asset; assigning a content tag to the first video asset corresponding to the characteristic; identifying a human curator associated with the first video asset; providing the first video asset to the human curator to approve or edit the content tag; receiving a request for a video asset from a second location; retrieving a criterion from the request for the video asset; determining whether there is a match between the content tag approved or edited by the human curator and the criterion; and in response to determining that there is a match between the content tag approved or edited by the human curator and the criterion, transmitting the first media asset to a display device at the second location.
52 . The method of claim 51 , further comprising:
accessing a user profile; and retrieving the criterion from the received request based on the user profile.
53 . The method of claim 51 , wherein:
the first location corresponds to a live event; and the second location is remote to the first location.
54 . The method of claim 53 , wherein the content tag is assigned to the first video asset based on metadata associated with the live event.
55 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the first media asset is generated for display on a display device at a third location that is remote to both the first location and the second location.
56 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the criterion includes any of actor, genre, year, content filter, and age rating.
57 . The method of claim 51 , wherein providing the first video asset to the human curator to approve or edit the content tag comprises:
determining a level of uncertainty associated with the content tag assigned to the first video asset; determining whether the level of uncertainty associated with the content tag assigned to the first video asset is above a threshold; and in response to determining that the level of uncertainty associated with the content tag assigned to the first video asset is above a threshold, providing the first video asset to the human curator to approve or edit the content tag.
58 . The method of claim 51 , further comprising:
receiving, at the second location, a first video-feed comprising a live broadcast of a live event corresponding to the first location; and generating for simultaneous display the live broadcast and the first video asset on the display device at the second location.
59 . The method of claim 58 , wherein the first media asset is generated for display in a picture-in-picture window on the display device at the second location.
60 . The method of claim 59 , further comprising:
receiving a video-feed request from a third user at a third location; in response to receiving the video-feed request, generating a second video-feed comprising the first video-feed and the first media asset; and generating for display the second video-feed on a display device at the third location.
61 . A system for creating personalized video feeds, the system comprising:
communications circuitry; and control circuitry configured to:
receive, from the communications circuitry, a first video asset transmitted from a first content capture device at a first location;
determine a characteristic of the first video asset;
assign a content tag to the first video asset corresponding to the characteristic;
identify a human curator associated with the first video asset;
provide the first video asset to the human curator to approve or edit the content tag;
receive a request for a video asset from a second location;
retrieve a criterion from the request for the video asset;
determine whether there is a match between the content tag approved or edited by the human curator and the criterion; and
in response to determining that there is a match between the content tag approved or edited by the human curator and the criterion, transmit the first media asset to a display device at the second location.
62 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:
access a user profile; and retrieve the criterion from the received request based on the user profile.
63 . The system of claim 61 , wherein:
the first location corresponds to a live event; and the second location is remote to the first location.
64 . The system of claim 63 , wherein the content tag is assigned to the first video asset based on metadata associated with the live event.
65 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the first media asset is generated for display on a display device at a third location that is remote to both the first location and the second location.
66 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the criterion includes any of actor, genre, year, content filter, and age rating.
67 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the control circuitry, when providing the first video asset to the human curator to approve or edit the content tag, is further configured to:
determine a level of uncertainty associated with the content tag assigned to the first video asset; determine whether the level of uncertainty associated with the content tag assigned to the first video asset is above a threshold; and in response to determining that the level of uncertainty associated with the content tag assigned to the first video asset is above a threshold, provide the first video asset to the human curator to approve or edit the content tag.
68 . The system of claim 61 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:
receive, at the second location, a first video-feed comprising a live broadcast of a live event corresponding to the first location; and generate for simultaneous display the live broadcast and the first video asset on the display device at the second location.
69 . The system of claim 68 , wherein the first media asset is generated for display in a picture-in-picture window on the display device at the second location.
70 . The system of claim 69 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:
receive a video-feed request from a third user at a third location; in response to receiving the video-feed request, generate a second video-feed comprising the first video-feed and the first media asset; and generate for display the second video-feed on a display device at the third location.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
