Abstract
Among other things, techniques and systems are disclosed for implementing contextual voice commands. On a device, a data item in a first context is displayed. On the device, a physical input selecting the displayed data item in the first context is received. On the device, a voice input that relates the selected data item to an operation in a second context is received. The operation is performed on the selected data item in the second context
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method, comprising:
at an electronic device with one or more processors:
displaying, on the electronic device:
an icon representing a data item in a first display region, and
a second display region different and remote from the first display region;
receiving a touch selection of the icon;
in response to the touch selection, displaying, in the second display region, a plurality of operations that can be performed on the data item, wherein at least one operation of the plurality of operations can be performed on the data item in response to a voice input;
while the icon representing the data item is displayed in the first region, receiving a voice input that corresponds to the at least one operation that can be performed on the data item; and
in response to receiving the voice input, performing the at least one operation on the data item.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising presenting an audible indication of one or more of the plurality of operations.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein presenting the audible indication of one or more of the plurality of operations comprises:
presenting the one or more operations in one or more audible questions to the user; and receiving the voice input comprises receiving a verbal answer to an audible question to indicate a user selection of the at least one operation.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the icon is displayed within an interface associated with a first application context.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second display region does not obstruct the icon.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the first display region and the second display region are visually separated by a portion of a background region.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the displayed plurality of operations are selectable via voice input and not selectable via touch input.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
displaying a second icon representing a second data item in a third display region distinct from the first display region; receiving a selection of the second icon; and in response to the selection, displaying, in the second display region, a second plurality of operations that can be performed on the second data item.
9 . An electronic device, comprising:
one or more processors; and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to:
display an icon representing a data item in a first display region;
display a second display region different and remote from the first display region;
receive a selection of the icon;
in response to the selection, display, in the second display region, a plurality of operations that can be performed on the data item, wherein at least one operation of the plurality of operations can be performed on the data item in response to a voice input;
while the icon representing the data item is displayed in the first region, receive a voice input that corresponds to the at least one operation that can be performed on the data item; and
in response o receiving the voice input, perform the at least one operation on the data item.
10 . The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the electronic device to present an audible indication of one or more of the plurality of operations.
11 . The electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the electronic device to:
present the one or more operations in one or more audible questions to the user; and receive the voice input comprises receiving a verbal answer to an audible question to indicate a user selection of the at least one operation.
12 . The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the icon is displayed within an interface associated with a first application environment.
13 . The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the second display region does not obstruct the icon.
14 . The electronic device of claim 13 , wherein the first display region and the second display region are visually separated by a portion of a background region.
15 . The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the displayed plurality of operations are selectable via voice input and not selectable via touch input.
16 . The electronic device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the electronic device:
display a second icon representing a second data item a third display region distinct from the first display region; receive a selection of the second icon; and in response to the selection, display, in the second display region, a second plurality of operations that can be performed on the second data item.
17 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by an electronic device, cause the electronic device to:
display an icon representing a data item in a first display region; display a second display region different and remote from the first display region; receive a selection of the icon; in response to the selection, display, in the second display region, a plurality of operations that can be performed on the data item, wherein at least one operation of the plurality of operations can be performed on the data item in response to a voice input; while the icon representing the data item is displayed in the first region, receive a voice input that corresponds to the at least one operation that can be performed on the data item; and in response to receiving the voice input, perform the at least one operation on the data item.
18 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the instructions further cause the electronic device to present an audible indication of one or more of the plurality of operations.
19 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the instructions further cause the electronic device to:
present the one or more operations in one or more audible questions to the user; and receive the voice input comprising receiving a verbal answer to an audible question to indicate a user selection of the at least one operation.
20 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the icon is displayed within an interface associated with a first application environment.
21 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the second display region does not obstruct the icon.
22 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 21 , wherein the first display region and the second display region are visually separated by a portion of a background region.
23 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the displayed plurality of operations are selectable via voice input and not selectable via tactile input.
24 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein the instructions further cause the electronic device to:
display a second icon representing a second data item in a third display region distinct from the first display region; receive a selection of the second icon; and in response to the selection, display, in the second display region, a second plurality of operations that can be performed on the second data item.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
