Abstract

An air cooler for cooling air in rooms, such as walk-in storage or cooling rooms includes: a housing, with a bottom, a cover, which can be fastened directly and without spacing to a ceiling of the room to be cooled, and at least one side wall, in which at least one air outlet is arranged; at least one planar heat exchanger, arranged in the housing and laying substantially horizontal; and at least one fan arranged in the housing for sucking in air from the room to be cooled. The air sucked in flows through the planar heat exchanger at least substantially in the vertical direction and is deflected by the fan in the horizontal direction to the air outlet. The fan and the air outlet are arranged above the heat exchanger in the air cooler to avoid dripping of condensed water and accumulation of dust and dirt.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An air cooler for cooling of air in rooms, the air cooler comprising a housing with a bottom, a cover fastenable directly without spacing to a ceiling of the room being cooled, and at least one side wall in which at least one air outlet is arranged, at least one heat exchanger arranged in a housing designed flat and lying essentially horizontally and at least one fan arranged in the housing to draw in air from the room being cooled, in which the air drawn in by a the at least one fan flows essentially in the vertical direction through the flat heat exchanger and is deflected by the at least one fan in the horizontal direction to the at least one air outlet, wherein the at least one fan and the at least one air outlet are arranged above the at least one heat exchanger.

2 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein at least one air inlet is arranged in the housing beneath the at least one heat exchanger.

3 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein an air inlet is arranged in at least one side wall.

4 . The air cooler according to claim 3 , wherein the at least one side wall comprises four side walls and wherein no air inlet is arranged in each side wall in which an air outlet is provided.

5 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein a separating plate with an air passage opening is arranged between the at least one heat exchanger and the at least one fan.

6 . The air cooler according to claim 5 , wherein the air passage opening is flush with the at least one fan arranged above the separating plate.

7 . The air cooler according to claim 5 , wherein the air drawn in laterally through the air inlet flows into the housing essentially in the horizontal direction and is deflected there in the vertical direction, flows vertically through the at least one heat exchanger and flows into the at least one fan in the vertical direction through the air passage opening.

8 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one heat exchanger is designed as a microchannel or finned coil heat exchanger.

9 . The air cooler according to claim 8 , wherein the drawn-in air flows through the at least one heat exchanger parallel to louvers of the finned coil heat exchanger or parallel to zig-zag louvers of the microchannel heat exchanger.

10 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one heat exchanger contains tubes or channels through which a refrigerant flows.

11 . The air cooler according to claim 10 , wherein the drawn-in air flows through the at least one heat exchanger perpendicular to the flow direction of the refrigerant flowing through tubes or channels of the at least one heat exchanger.

12 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein the bottom has a recess or trough for collection of water from condensation.

13 . The air cooler according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one fan is designed as a radial or diagonal fan.

         14 . (canceled)

15 . A method for cooling of air in a room, the method comprising:
drawing in air being cooled into a housing of an air cooler with a fan; guiding the drawn in air through a flat and essentially horizontally lying heat exchanger blown out from the housing by the fan via at least one lateral air outlet, wherein the fan and the air outlet are arranged above the heat exchanger, and the air drawn in by the fan flows through the heat exchanger in essentially the vertical direction and is deflected by the fan in the horizontal direction to the at least one lateral air outlet.
