Method and system for emergency call management
Abstract
A system and method for generating and transmitting emergency messages and for maintaining real-time emergency communications sessions between users and emergency dispatch centers. A system receives data transmitted from a user device and constructs an emergency message related to a specific type of emergency scenario as well as the location, meta-data and background information of the user. The generated emergency message is transmitted via a communications network and delivered to an appropriate emergency dispatch center. The method enables the user to deliver a detailed request for help regardless of his or her location or, in another instance, delivers the basic emergency response related information for the user. The generated emergency message is universally compatible with emergency communications center infrastructure so long as the communications centers possess basic voice call equipment.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 47 . (canceled)
48 . A computer-implemented method for generation of emergency messages, the method comprising:
a) receiving user input indicative of an emergency provided through a user interface of a user communication device, wherein the user input comprises touch, voice, or gesture; b) generating an emergency message based on the user input, wherein the emergency message is an SMS, MMS, or a message configured to be sent using an internet protocol; c) providing the emergency message to an emergency dispatch center to request emergency assistance.
49 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the emergency message is a pre-formatted message.
50 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the emergency message comprises location information, and the location information is provided to the emergency dispatch center by updating a database accessible by the emergency dispatch center.
51 . The method of claim 48 , wherein a user of the user communication device is prompted to confirm his or her location.
52 . The method of claim 48 , wherein a user of the user communication device is prompted to insert details about a nature of the emergency.
53 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the emergency messages comprises at least one of user name or demographics information that is pre-generated at a time of user account creation.
54 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the emergency message is created for each unique set of emergency conditions comprising one or more of user selection, location information, an audio file, a text message, a video feed, or an image.
55 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the emergency message comprises a free-form message from a user.
56 . The method of claim 48 , wherein a user of the user communication device is prompted to insert an image file to be forwarded to the emergency dispatch center.
57 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the user receives status updates via a communication log.
58 . The method of claim 48 , wherein the emergency message is a request for emergency assistance that is configured to be forwarded over a bridge between the user communication device and the emergency dispatch center.
59 . A system comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform steps comprising:
a) receiving user input indicative of an emergency provided through a user interface of a user communication device, wherein the user input comprises touch, voice, or gesture; b) generating an emergency message based on the user input, wherein the emergency message is an SMS, MMS, or a message configured to be sent using an internet protocol; c) providing the emergency message to an emergency dispatch center to request emergency assistance.
60 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the emergency message is a pre-formatted message.
61 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the emergency message comprises location information, and the location information is provided to the emergency dispatch center by updating a database accessible by the emergency dispatch center.
62 . The method of claim 59 , wherein a user of the user communication device is prompted to confirm his or her location.
63 . The system of claim 59 , wherein a user of the user communication device is prompted to insert details about a nature of the emergency.
64 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the emergency messages comprises at least one of user name or demographics information that is pre-generated at a time of user account creation.
65 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the emergency message is created for each unique set of emergency conditions comprising one or more of user selection, location information, an audio file, a text message, a video feed, or an image.
66 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the emergency message comprises a free-form message from a user.
67 . The system of claim 59 , wherein a user of the user communication device is prompted to insert an image file to be forwarded to the emergency dispatch center.
68 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the user receives status updates via a communication log.
69 . The system of claim 59 , wherein the emergency message is a request for emergency assistance that is configured to be forwarded over a bridge between the user communication device and the emergency dispatch center.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
