Providing actionable content to a computing device based on user actions
Abstract
Methods and apparatus related to identifying content accessed on a computing device that is likely actionable on another computing device. Some implementations are directed to methods and apparatus for identifying a computing device of a user, identifying content accessed on another computing device by the user, determining content that is actionable on the computing device, determining a confidence level that the actionable content is of interest to the user, and providing the actionable content for use on the computing device if the confidence level satisfies a threshold. The confidence level may be based on an indication of time passage between the user accessing the content on the other computing device and the identified use of the computing device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computer implemented method, comprising:
identifying content accessed on a computing device by a user; determining actionable content based on the content accessed on the computing device by the user; identifying at least a first additional computing device and a second additional computing device that are each associated with the user,
wherein the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device are each separate from the computing device on which the content was accessed, and
wherein identifying the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device is based on an account that is utilized with the computing device also being utilized by the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device;
determining a particular computing device capability that is required for performance of an action associated with the selectable content; and providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device without providing the actionable content to the second additional computing device,
wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is based on determining the first additional computing device has the particular computing device capability.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is further based on historical usage, related to the actionable content, of multiple users each using a corresponding computing device that is similar to the first additional computing device.
3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising determining that the corresponding computing devices are similar to the first additional computing device based on the corresponding computing devices being a same computing device type as the first additional computing device.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the computing device type is one of a mobile phone computing device, an in-vehicle computing device, and a tablet computing device.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first additional computing device is an in-vehicle computing device having at least a navigation capability, a communications capability, and an entertainment capability.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the actionable content is associated with an address, wherein the particular capability is the navigation capability, and wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is based on the in-vehicle computing device having the navigation capability.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the actionable content to the first computing device is contingent on receiving, from the first computing device, a user authorization for receiving the actionable content.
8 . A system, comprising:
memory storing instructions; one or more processors operable to execute the instructions stored in memory, wherein the instructions comprise instructions to: receive, from a computing device, content accessed on the computing device by a user; determine actionable content based on the content accessed on the computing device by the user; identify at least a first additional computing device and a second additional computing device that are each associated with the user,
wherein the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device are each separate from the computing device on which the content was accessed, and
wherein identifying the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device is based on an account that is utilized with the computing device also being utilized by the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device;
determine a particular computing device capability that is required for performance of an action associated with the selectable content; and provide the actionable content to the first additional computing device without providing the actionable content to the second additional computing device,
wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is based on determining the first additional computing device has the particular computing device capability.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is further based on historical usage, related to the actionable content, of multiple users each using a corresponding computing device that is similar to the first additional computing device.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further comprising instructions to determine that the corresponding computing devices are similar to the first additional computing device based on the corresponding computing devices being a same computing device type as the first additional computing device.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the computing device type is one of a mobile phone computing device, an in-vehicle computing device, and a tablet computing device.
12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the first additional computing device is an in-vehicle computing device having at least a navigation capability, a communications capability, and an entertainment capability.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the actionable content is associated with an address, wherein the particular capability is the navigation capability, and wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is based on the in-vehicle computing device having the navigation capability.
14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein providing the actionable content to the first computing device is contingent on receiving, from the first computing device, a user authorization for receiving the actionable content.
15 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing computing device instructions executable by a processor to perform a method comprising:
identifying content accessed on a computing device by a user; determining actionable content based on the content accessed on the computing device by the user; identifying at least a first additional computing device and a second additional computing device that are each associated with the user,
wherein the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device are each separate from the computing device on which the content was accessed, and
wherein identifying the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device is based on an account that is utilized with the computing device also being utilized by the first additional computing device and the second additional computing device;
determining a particular computing device capability that is required for performance of an action associated with the selectable content; and providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device without providing the actionable content to the second additional computing device,
wherein providing the actionable content to the first additional computing device is based on determining the first additional computing device has the particular computing device capability.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
