Abstract
The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to apparatuses, systems, and methods for applying reduced pressure to subcutaneous tissue site. In one illustrative embodiment, the apparatus includes a sleeve adapted for placement at a subcutaneous tissue site. The sleeve is further adapted to receive a manifold. The sleeve may also have an opening operable to transfer reduced pressure from the manifold to the subcutaneous tissue site. In one embodiment, the apparatus may also include a manifold that is insertable into the sleeve. The manifold may include at least one aperture, and may be operable to deliver reduced pressure to the subcutaneous tissue site via at least one aperture.

50 . An apparatus for applying reduced pressure to a subcutaneous tissue site, the apparatus comprising:
a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end configured to be inserted into the subcutaneous tissue site, the sleeve having an opening configured to be in fluid communication with the subcutaneous tissue site; a manifold having a proximal end, a distal end, a passageway extending between the proximal end and the distal end, and an aperture proximate to the distal end, the distal end of the manifold configured to be inserted into the proximal end of the sleeve; and a flange coupled to the proximal end of the manifold, the flange configured to engage the distal end of the sleeve to stop insertion of the manifold into the sleeve.
51 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the opening extends substantially between the proximal end of the sleeve and the distal end of the sleeve.
52 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the opening is located in a wall of the sleeve.
53 . The apparatus of claim 50 , further comprising an end cap coupled to the distal end of the sleeve.
54 . The apparatus of claim 53 , wherein the opening is at least partially located in the end cap.
55 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the flange is a first flange and the apparatus further comprises a second flange disposed between the first flange and the distal end of the sleeve.
56 . The apparatus of claim 55 , wherein the second flange is wider than the opening.
57 . The apparatus of claim 55 , wherein an interior of the sleeve further comprises a blocking member configured to engage the second flange and prevent further insertion of the manifold into the sleeve.
58 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the manifold further comprises a surface feature located on a proximal portion of the manifold, the surface feature being configured to prevent further insertion of the manifold into the sleeve.
59 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the proximal end of the manifold includes a visual depth indicia.
60 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the manifold has a longitudinal length and a width configured to vary along the longitudinal length such that a space between the manifold and the sleeve is configured to increase as the manifold is inserted.
61 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the manifold has a longitudinal length and a width configured to vary along the longitudinal length such that a space between the manifold and the sleeve is configured to decrease as the manifold is inserted.
62 . The apparatus of claim 50 , wherein the manifold has a longitudinal length and a width configured to vary along the longitudinal length such that a space between the manifold and the sleeve is not a constant as the manifold is inserted.
63 . An apparatus for applying reduced pressure to a subcutaneous tissue site, the apparatus comprising:
a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the sleeve configured to be inserted into the subcutaneous tissue site; an opening disposed on the sleeve and configured and to be adjacent the subcutaneous tissue site; a manifold having a proximal end, a distal end, a passageway extending between the proximal end and the distal end, and an aperture proximate to the distal end, the distal end of the manifold configured to be inserted into the proximal end of the sleeve; and an end cap configured to be coupled to the distal end of the manifold.
64 . The apparatus of claim 63 , wherein the opening on the sleeve is located on a side wall of the sleeve, and wherein the opening extends along a longitudinal length of the sleeve.
65 . The apparatus of claim 63 , wherein the opening on the sleeve extends substantially between the proximal end of the sleeve and the distal end of the sleeve.
66 . The apparatus of claim 63 , wherein the end cap has a dome shape.
67 . The apparatus of claim 63 , wherein the end cap includes a securing wall, and the securing wall is configured to receive and at least partially surround the distal end of the manifold.
68 . The apparatus of claim 67 , wherein the distal end of the manifold and the securing wall engage in an interference fit.
69 . The apparatus of claim 67 wherein the manifold further comprises at least one projection on the distal end of the manifold, wherein the at least one projection radially extends from the manifold, and wherein the securing wall includes at least one groove that slidably receives the at least one projection.
70 . An apparatus for applying reduced pressure to a subcutaneous tissue site, the apparatus comprising:
a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the sleeve configured to be inserted into the subcutaneous tissue site, the sleeve having an opening configured to be in fluid communication with the subcutaneous tissue site; and a manifold having a proximal end, a distal end, a first aperture disposed on the distal end of the manifold, and a second aperture disposed on the distal end of the manifold, the distal end configured to be inserted into the proximal end of the sleeve; and a delivery conduit having a first fluid lumen and a second fluid lumen, each of the first fluid lumen and the second fluid lumen configured to be fluidly coupled to at least one of the first aperture and the second aperture.
71 . The apparatus of claim 70 , wherein the first aperture is located further from the distal end of the manifold than the second aperture.
72 . The apparatus of claim 70 , further comprising a flange at least partially surrounding the manifold and disposed between the first aperture and the second aperture.
