Abstract

The disclosed embodiments provide systems, methods, and techniques for managing merchandising cards. A merchandising card may be, for example, a gift card, loyalty card, or the like. Consistent disclosed embodiments, a system for managing merchandising cards may include one or more memory devices storing instructions and one or more processors configured to acquire, from a device over a network, a plurality of locations associated with the device, the device locations being acquired at different instances in time within a predetermined period of time. Additionally, the one or more processors may be configured to calculate a merchant confidence rating for a merchant using the device locations. Further, the one or more processors may be configured to, based on the merchant confidence rating, determine that the merchant matches a merchant that is associated with merchandising card, and send a reminder a user of the device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for managing a merchandising card reminder, the method comprising:
 acquiring, from a device over a network, a plurality of device locations associated with the device at different instances in time; calculating a first merchant confidence rating by:
 determining a geofence associated with a merchant location, the merchant location being associated with a first merchant and the geofence being defined by an area bounded by a plurality of geographic points; and
 determining the first merchant confidence rating based on whether a predetermined number or percentage of the device locations are within the geofence for a predetermined period of time;
   determining whether the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold; and in response to determining that the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold:
 acquiring a first merchant identifier associated with the merchant location;
 acquiring a plurality of available merchant identifiers from a financial service provider;
 determining whether the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers, the first and available merchant identifiers being associated with a merchandising card of the user of the device; and
 in response to determining that the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers:
 sending a notification to the user of the device indicating that the user is a holder of the merchandising card, the notification including an image representative of the merchandising card;
 acquiring an activation request from the user, the activation request generated in response to the user interacting with the notification; and
 preparing the merchandising card for use at the merchant location.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second merchant identifier comprises a merchant identifier acquired from the user when the card was first acquired by the financial service provider.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second merchant identifier is associated with a merchant code.

         4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the notification comprises at least one of a push notification, a text message, an email, or a social media message.

         5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein computing the first merchant confidence rating further comprises computing the first merchant confidence rating based on at least one of:
 a detected motion using one or more of the device locations over the predetermined period of time; a detected speed using one or more of the device locations over the predetermined period of time; or a determination that a first device location is not within a predetermined range of a second device location over the predetermined period of time.

         6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the merchandising card comprises at least one of a gift card, a loyalty card, a rewards card, or a discount card.

         7 - 8 . (canceled)

         9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 displaying, on the device, the image representative of the merchandising card, the displayed image comprises at least one of a first image representing the front of the card or a second image representing the back of the card.

         10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the notification comprises a link associated with the card, the merchandising link, upon selection by the user, sending an activation request from the user.

         11 . A system for managing a merchandising card reminder, the system comprising:
 one or more memory devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute instructions to:
 acquire, from a device over a network, a plurality of device locations associated with the device at different instances in time;
 determine a geofence associated with a merchant location, the merchant location being associated with a first merchant and the geofence being defined by an area bounded by a plurality of geographic points;
 determine a first merchant confidence rating based on whether a predetermined number or percentage of the device locations are within the geofence;
 determine whether the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold; and
 if the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold:
 acquire a merchant identifier associated with the merchant location;
 acquire a plurality of available merchant identifiers from the financial service provider;
 determine whether the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers, the first and available merchant identifiers being associated with a merchandising card of the user of the device; and
 if the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers:
 send a notification to the user of the device indicating that the user is a holder of the merchandising card, the notification including an image representative of the merchandising card;
 acquire an activation request from the user, the activation request generated in response to the user interacting with the notification; and
 prepare the merchandising card for use at the merchant location.

         12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the second merchant identifier comprises a merchant identifier from the user when the merchandising card was first acquired by the financial service provider.

         13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the second merchant identifier is associated with a merchant code.

         14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the notification is at least one of a push notification, a text message, an email, or a social media message.

         15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the first merchant confidence rating is further based on at least one of:
 a detected motion; a detected motion characteristic; or a determination that a first device location is not within a predetermined range of a second device location.

         16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the merchandising card is at least one of a gift card, a loyalty card, a rewards card, or a discount card.

         17 - 18 . (canceled)

         19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to execute instructions to:
 display, on the device, the image representative of the merchandising card, the displayed image comprising at least one of a first image representing the front of the card or a second image representing the back of the card.

         20 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, perform a method for managing a merchandising card reminder, the method comprising:
 acquiring, from a device over a network, a plurality of device locations associated with the device at different instances in time; calculating a first merchant confidence rating by:
 determining a geofence associated with a merchant location, the merchant location being associated with a first merchant and the geofence being defined by an area bounded by a plurality of geographic points; and
 determining the first merchant confidence rating based on whether a predetermined number or percentage of the device locations are within the geofence for a predetermined period of time;

 acquiring a first merchant identifier associated with the merchant location;
 acquiring a plurality of available merchant identifiers from the financial service provider;
 determining whether the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers, the first and available merchant identifiers being associated with a merchandising card; and
 in response to determining that the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers:
 sending a notification to the user of the device, the notification comprising a message indicating that the user is a holder of the merchandising card, the notification including an image representative of the merchandising card;
