Abstract

The present invention refers to a pharmaceutical combination for use in glycemic control in diabetes type 2 patients.

1 . A method for improving glycemic control in a patient with type 2 diabetes not adequately controlled by treatment with a glitazone, the method comprising administering lixisenatide as an add-on treatment to the patient in need thereof;
 wherein the patient is not adequately controlled by treatment with a glitazone at a dose of 10 mg/day to 60 mg/day; and   wherein the lixisenatide is administered at a starting dose of 10 μg daily and titrated to a maintenance dose of 20 μg daily by day 15 of lixisenatide treatment.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the patient is inadequately controlled by treatment with a glitazone and metformin. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the glitazone is pioglitazone.
