Abstract

The present invention aims to provide an antimicrobial and antiviral agent which comprises a naturally occurring component as an active ingredient and is effective against microbes including various classes of fungi and viruses. In one aspect of the present invention, provided is an antimicrobial and antiviral agent comprising Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An antimicrobial and antiviral agent comprising
 (a) Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii , and (b) a liquid, a cream, an ointment, a plaster, a gel, a wax, or a spray.

2 . An antimicrobial and antiviral agent comprising
 (a) a secretion from the Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii , and (b) a liquid, a cream, an ointment, a plaster, a gel, a wax, or a spray.

3 . An antimicrobial and antiviral agent comprising
 (a) Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii , and (b) a liquid, a cream, an ointment, a plaster, a gel, a wax, or a spray, wherein the Lactobacillus is at least one species selected from the group consisting of parafarraginis, parabuchneri, buchneri, harbinensis, vini , and nagelii.

4 . An antimicrobial and antiviral agent comprising
 (a) a secretion from the Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii , and (b) a liquid, a cream, an ointment, a plaster, a gel, a wax, or a spray, wherein the Lactobacillus is at least one species selected from the group consisting of parafarraginis, parabuchneri, buchneri, harbinensis, vini , and nagelii.

5 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 3 , wherein the Lactobacillus is derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii or Angelica keiskei.

6 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 1 , wherein the agent is an antifungal agent.

7 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 6 , wherein the agent has an antifungal effect against Trichophyton or Candida.

8 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 1 , wherein the agent has an antiviral effect against an enveloped virus.

9 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 8 , wherein the enveloped virus is influenza virus.

10 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 1 , wherein the agent has an antiviral effect against a non-enveloped virus.

11 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 10 , wherein the non-enveloped virus is norovirus.

12 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 1 , wherein the Lactobacillus is a killed bacterium.

13 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 1 , wherein the Lactobacillus is heat-treated.

14 . The antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 1 , wherein the Lactobacillus is a dried bacterial product.

15 . An antimicrobial and antiviral member, comprising a member and an antimicrobial and antiviral agent comprising Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii disposed on a surface of the member.

16 . A method of manufacturing an antimicrobial and antiviral agent, comprising fermenting Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii or Angelica keiskei and obtaining a fermentation liquor comprising Lactobacillus.

17 . The method of manufacturing an antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 16 , wherein the Lactobacillus is at least one species selected from the group consisting of parafarraginis, parabuchneri, buchneri, harbinensis, vini , and nagelii.

18 . The method of manufacturing an antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 16 , further comprising killing the Lactobacillus contained in the fermentation liquor.

19 . The method of manufacturing an antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 16 , further comprising drying the fermentation liquor to provide a dried bacterial product.

20 . The method of manufacturing an antimicrobial and antiviral agent according to claim 16 , further comprising obtaining a secretion from the Lactobacillus.

21 . A method for treating microbial disease or virus disease of the human comprising administering Lactobacillus derived from Artemisia indica var. maximowiczii to the human.
