Abstract

The invention provides a composition for oral administration that is formulated for human administration in unit dosage form and contains as its sole active ingredient at least 100 mg biotin per unit dose.

1 . A method of treating a patient suffering from progressive multiple sclerosis, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of biotin to a patient in need thereof. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein treatment improves a clinical condition in the patient. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said biotin is formulated for human administration. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said biotin is formulation in unit dosage form. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein biotin is the sole active ingredient in the unit dosage form. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein said unit dose is in the form of a gel capsule, a tablet, a film-coated tablet, a lozenge or a pill. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the unit dosage further comprises an excipient. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the excipient is talc or microcrystalline cellulose. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount of biotin is at least 20 mg.
