Abstract

Various features for improving the performance of prosthetic sport feet are provided. A fairing for a prosthetic sport foot can include foam components that are coupled to the foot and an elastane cover. The fairing is configured to alter the cross-sectional profile of the foot to produce a more aerodynamic shape. A prosthetic sport foot can include a hollow foot member that can be lighter weight and provide improved performance. A prosthetic sport foot can include an adjustable tension strap extending between and coupled to two portions of the foot member. A prosthetic sport foot, such as a prosthetic running foot or prosthetic cycling foot, can include an aerodynamic fairing and a cover. A prosthetic sport foot can have a varying-width profile such that a mid-section of the foot is narrower and a toe portion flares outward.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 11 . (canceled)

         12 . A prosthetic running foot comprising:
a hollow foot element, wherein at least a distal portion of the foot element comprises a curved profile; wherein the foot element comprises a body surrounding a central hollow cavity.

13 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , wherein the body comprises a carbon fiber material.

14 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , further comprising an opening in the body, wherein the opening is in fluid communication with the cavity and configured to allow for controlled release of air from the cavity during use.

15 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , wherein the foot element comprises a planar cross-section.

16 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , wherein at least one portion of the foot member comprises a substantially airfoil-shaped transverse cross-section.

17 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , wherein at least one portion of the foot member comprises a substantially elliptical-shaped transverse cross-section.

18 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , further comprising a surface material disposed on at least a portion of one or both of anterior and posterior surfaces of the foot member, wherein the surface material provides said portion with a non-planar cross-sectional profile.

19 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , wherein the hollow foot member comprises an ovular cross-sectional shape.

20 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 12 , wherein the hollow foot member comprises a tear-drop or circular cross-sectional shape.

         21 . A prosthetic running foot comprising:
a hollow foot element, wherein at least a distal portion of the foot element comprises a curved side profile; wherein the hollow foot element comprises a body surrounding a plurality of hollow chambers.

22 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of hollow chambers are fluidly connected to one another.

23 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein the plurality of hollow chambers are not fluidly connected to one another.

24 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein the body comprises a carbon fiber material.

25 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein one or more of the plurality of hollow chambers are at least partially filled with fluid or media.

26 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 25 , wherein different hollow chambers comprise different fluids or media with different compressibility properties.

27 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein the hollow foot member comprises an ovular cross-sectional shape.

28 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein the hollow foot member is symmetrical in a media-lateral direction.

29 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein at least one portion of the foot member comprises a substantially airfoil-shaped transverse cross-section.

30 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , wherein at least one portion of the foot member comprises a substantially elliptical-shaped transverse cross-section.

31 . The prosthetic running foot of claim 21 , further comprising a surface material disposed on at least a portion of one or both of anterior and posterior surfaces of the body, wherein the surface material provides said portion with a non-planar cross-sectional profile.
