Abstract

To provide an antibody against FGF23 and a pharmaceutical composition such as a preventive or therapeutic agent which can prevent or treat by suppressing an action of FGF23 by using the antibody. An antibody or its functional fragment against human FGF23 produced by hybridoma C10 (Accession No. FERM BP-10772).

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An antibody or a functional fragment thereof binding to all or part of the epitope on human FGF23 to which an antibody produced by hybridoma C10 (Accession No. FERM BP-10772) binds, wherein the antibody or functional fragment thereof increases serum phosphorous concentration when administered to human, wherein the extent of the increase of the serum phosphorous concentration is greater and the duration of increased level of serum phosphorus concentration is longer compared to antibody 2C3B produced by hybridoma of Accession No. FERM BP-7838.

2 . The functional fragment of claim 1 , wherein said functional fragment is a peptide fragment selected from the group consisting of Fab, Fabl′, F (ab′)2, disulfide stabilized Fv (dsFv), dimerized V region (diabody), single chain Fv (scFv) and CDR.

3 . The antibody or functional fragment thereof of claim 1 , comprising a heavy chain or light chain having an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are deleted, substituted or added.

4 . The antibody of claim 1 , wherein the class of the antibody is selected from the group consisting of IgG, IgA, IgE, and IgM.

5 . The antibody of claim 1 , wherein the subclass of the IgG antibody is selected from the group consisting of IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4.

6 . A pharmaceutical composition, comprising as an active ingredient, the antibody or functional fragment thereof of claim 1 .

7 . A method of controlling phosphorus metabolism and/or vitamin D metabolism by FGF23, comprising administering a composition comprising, as an active ingredient, the antibody or functional fragment thereof of claim 1 .

8 . A method of preventing or treating a disease which is associated with mineral metabolism disorders, comprising administering a composition comprising, as an active ingredient, the antibody or functional fragment thereof of claim 1 .

9 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the disease which is associated with mineral metabolism disorders is selected from the group consisting of neoplastic ostomalacia, ADHR, XLH, fibrous dysplasia, McCune-Albright syndrome, and autosomal recessive hypophosphatemia.

10 . A method of preventing or treating a disease selected from the group consisting of osteoporosis, rickets, hypercalcernia, hypocalcemia, heterotrophic calcification, osteosclerosis, Paget's disease, hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, and pruritis, comprising administering a composition comprising, as an active ingredient, the antibody or functional fragment thereof of claim 1 .
