Abstract

Medical device used to cause hemostasis of blood vessels using a clip arrangement delivered to a target region through an endoscope. Method for using the device to cause hemostasis of a blood vessel through an endoscope. Medical device including a reversibly closeable clip, a locking arrangement, a control wire, a sheath, and a handle with an actuating trigger. Through the endoscope, hemostatic clipping device that is fully reversible and lockable. Hemostatic clip that reversibly targets and clips bleeding ulcers.

         46 . A medical device, comprising:
 a clip having a first clip leg having a first inner surface and a second clip leg having a second inner surface,   a control member extending from a proximal actuator to the clip; and   an opening element operably associated with the control member to spread the first and second clip legs apart from one another into a tissue-receiving configuration, the opening element engaging the inner surfaces of the first and second clip legs to drive the first and second clip legs radially outward as the control member is moved proximally relative to the clip.   
     
     
         47 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein a distal end of the control member includes an enlargement receive in a corresponding well formed in the opening element. 
     
     
         48 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein the opening element defines first and second arms, each of which move away from the longitudinal axis of the clip to move the clip legs to the tissue-receiving configuration. 
     
     
         49 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein the clip legs are biased to a closed configuration. 
     
     
         50 . The device of  claim 46 , further comprising a sleeve including a channel extending longitudinally therethrough, the channel sized and shaped to receive a proximal portion of the clip therein. 
     
     
         51 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein the control member is pre-bent adjacent to the enlargement such that distal movement of the control member causes the enlargement to disengage from the opening element, releasing the clip from the control member. 
     
     
         52 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein the control member is reversibly operable to move the clip between a closed configuration and the open, tissue-receiving configuration. 
     
     
         53 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein distal ends of the first and second clip legs are curved radially inward. 
     
     
         54 . The device of  claim 46 , wherein distal ends of the first and second clip legs include curved projections which are angled with respect to the longitudinal axis of the clip.
