Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer program methods for assessing a validity or invalidity of a patent are described. A plurality of legal documents associated with a plurality of legal cases can be received, where at least one of the plurality of legal cases can be associated with a legal proceeding. The legal proceeding can be associated with a determination of a validity or invalidity of a patent. The patent can include at least one claim. The plurality of legal documents can be stored in one or more databases. One or more predetermined patterns can be applied to the plurality of legal documents to identify reference data. The reference data can be analyzed to develop one or more analytical or statistical models, and each analytical or statistical model can pertain to a different analytical parameter associated with a different attribute of the plurality of the legal documents. The validity or invalidity of the patent can be assessed based on the one or more analytical or statistical models. The assessment of the validity or invalidity of the patent can be displayed to one or more users.

8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the dashboard graphical user interface is configured to display the assessment of the validity or invalidity of the patent or patent application by displaying one or more documents from the plurality of documents determined to correspond to or disclose one or more elements in a specification or patent claim of the patent or patent application based on the at least one analytical model.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the dashboard graphical user interface is configured to display a relevancy rating for the one or more displayed documents determined to correspond to or disclose the one or more elements in the specification or patent claim of the patent or patent application, the relevancy rating representating of a relevance of a particular document in relation to the specification or the patent claim, the relevancy rating generated based on the at least one analytical model.

         10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein:
the dashboard graphical user interface is configured to display a first document and a second document from the plurality of documents determined to correspond to or disclose one or more elements in the specification or patent claim of the patent or patent application based on the at least one analytical model, the first document being ranked higher than the second document based on a higher number of attributes in the first document corresponding to or disclosing the one or more elements in the specification or patent claim of the patent or patent application than those in the second document corresponding to or disclosing the one or more elements in the specification or patent claim of the patent or patent application.
