Abstract

Various implementations include systems and methods for unlocking a door to a building on behalf of a tenant of the building that addresses the shortcomings of legacy telephone entry systems and allows for more efficient and safer management of building entry requests from third parties. In some implementations, the system taps into the legacy telephone entry systems to communicate with third parties seeking entry into the building. In some implementations, the system communicates with third party computing devices (e.g., stationary or mobile devices) to process entry requests. And, in some implementations, the system communicates entry preferences (or parameters) associated with a tenant with a door lock system to allow for entry during certain time windows or under certain conditions.

         103 . A door entry system comprising a processor in communication with a memory and an intercom, wherein the processor executes computer-readable instructions stored on the memory, said instructions cause the processor to:
 receive a signal from a mobile computing device, the signal identifying a guest associated with the mobile computing device;   receive a request to enter a building from the intercom;   in response to receiving the request to enter the building, compare the identified guest with a list of approved guests associated with the building; and   in response to the identified guest matching one of the approved guests, cause a lock on the door of the building to move into an unlocked position, wherein the lock and the door are associated with the intercom,   wherein causing the lock on the door to move into the unlocked position comprises generating and communicating a telephone signal to the intercom.   
     
     
         104 . The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the signal is a first signal, and the instructions further cause the processor to receive a second signal from the mobile computing device, the second signal identifying a location of the mobile computing device, wherein the building associated with the list of approved guests is based on the identified location of the mobile computing device. 
     
     
         105 . The door entry system of  claim 104 , wherein the second signal identifying the location of the mobile computing device comprises a global positioning system (GPS) location. 
     
     
         106 . The door entry system of  claim 104 , wherein the second signal identifying the location of the mobile computing device comprises low-resolution location information based on wireless signal triangulation. 
     
     
         107 . The door entry system of  claim 104 , wherein the request to enter the building from the intercom comprises a request telephone number associated with the intercom and the building, and wherein the building associated with the list of approved guests is also based on the identified location of the mobile computing device being proximal to the building associated with the request telephone number.

The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the request to enter the building from the intercom comprises a request telephone number associated with the intercom and the building, and wherein the building associated with the list of approved guests is based on the building associated with the request telephone number. 
     
     
         109 . The door entry system of  claim 108 , wherein the telephone signal comprises a dual tone, multi-frequency (DTMF) code. 
     
     
         110 . The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to receive a request from a tenant of the building to include the guest on the list of approved guests. 
     
     
         111 . The door entry system of  claim 110 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to generate and communicate a message to the guest inviting the guest to be on the list of approved guests and to receive a response from the guest invited. 
     
     
         112 . The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to generate and communicate a message to the tenant indicating that the identified guest entered the building. 
     
     
         113 . The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the telephone signal comprises a dual tone, multi-frequency (DTMF) code.

The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to generate and communicate a signal to a social media website, the signal including an identity of the tenant, credentials of the tenant for accessing the social media website, an identity of the guest requesting entry, and a message for posting to the social media website related to the guest's entry into the building, wherein the generation and communication of the signal to the social media website occurs in response to the identified guest matching one of the approved guests. 
     
     
         115 . The door entry system of  claim 103 , wherein the mobile computing device is associated with a service provider. 
     
     
         116 . A door entry system comprising a processor in communication with a memory and an intercom, wherein the processor executes computer-readable instructions stored on the memory, said instructions cause the processor to:
 receive a signal from a mobile computing device, the signal identifying a guest associated with the mobile computing device;   receive a request to enter a building from the intercom of the building, the request to enter the building comprising a request telephone number associated with the intercom;   in response to receiving the request to enter the building, compare the identified guest with a list of approved guests associated with the building associated with the request telephone number; and   in response to the identified guest matching one of the approved guests, cause a lock on the door of the building to move into an unlocked position, wherein the lock and the door are associated with the intercom.   
     
     
         117 . The door entry system of  claim 116 , wherein the signal received from the mobile computing device is received via an application program interface (API) between the processor and the mobile computing device. 
     
     
         118 . The door entry system of  claim 117 , wherein the request to enter the building comprises an access code delivered to the mobile computer device of the guest via the API, the access code being input into the intercom as part of the request to enter the building. 
     
     
         119 . The door entry system of  claim 116 , wherein the mobile computing device is associated with a service provider. 
     
     
         120 . The door entry system of  claim 119 , wherein the service provider is a delivery service. 
     
     
         121 . The door entry system of  claim 119 , wherein the service provider is added to the list of approved guests associated with the building by a tenant and/or building manager. 
     
     
         122 . The door entry system of  claim 116 , wherein the signal from the mobile computing device is a first signal, and the instructions further cause the processor to:
 receive a second signal from the mobile computing device, the second signal identifying a location of the mobile computing device,   wherein the lock on the door of the building is caused to move into the unlocked position when the identified guest matches one of the approved guests and when a location of the building identified by the request telephone number is proximal to the identified location of the mobile computing device.
