Face recognition system, face matching apparatus, face recognition method, and storage medium

Abstract

A face recognition system including: a reading unit that reads identification information from a medium carried by an authentication subject; an image capturing unit that acquires an image; a face detection unit that detects, as a detected face image, a face image from the image acquired; a face matching unit that, when a registered face image associated with the identification information read by the reading unit is present, matches the detected face image against the registered face image and matches, against the registered face image, the detected face image captured before the reading unit reads the identification information; and a registration unit that, when the registered face image associated with the identification information read is not present, registers, as the registered face image, the detected face image before the reading unit reads the identification information.

1 . A face recognition system comprising:
 a reading unit that reads identification information from a medium carried by an authentication subject;   an image capturing unit that acquires images;   a memory comprising instructions; and   a processor configured to execute the instructions to:   detect, as a detected face image, a face image from the images acquired by the image capturing unit;   when a registered face image associated with the identification information read by the reading unit is present, match the detected face image detected by the face detection unit against the registered face image and match, against the registered face image, the detected face image captured by the image capturing unit before the reading unit reads the identification information; and   when the registered face image associated with the identification information read by the reading unit is not present, register, as the registered face image, the detected face image captured by the image capturing unit before the reading unit reads the identification information,   wherein the processor further configured to execute the instructions to:   detect a plurality of the detected face images from the images acquired by the image capturing unit; and   match the plurality of detected face images against the registered face image.   
     
     
         2 . The face recognition system according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the image capturing unit continuously acquires multiple frames of the images, and   wherein the processor further configured to execute the instructions to:   detect a plurality of the detected face images from the multiple frames of images acquired by the image capturing unit.   
     
     
         3 . The face recognition system according to  claim 1 , wherein the processor further configured to execute the instructions to:
 when the registered face image associated with the identification information read by the reading unit is not present, display the detected face image captured by the image capturing unit before the reading unit reads the identification information so that the detected face image to be registered as the registration face image can be visually selected.   
     
     
         4 . The face recognition system according to  claim 1 , wherein the image capturing unit is installed in a vertical orientation so as to capture the image that is vertically long. 
     
     
         5 . A face matching apparatus comprising:
 a memory comprising instructions; and   a processor configured to execute the instructions to:   detect a face image as a detected face image from images acquired by an image capturing unit that captures the images;   when a registered face image associated with the identification information read by a reading unit that reads identification information from a medium carried by an authentication subject is present, match the detected face image detected by the face detection unit against the registered face image and match, against the registered face image, the detected face image captured by the image capturing unit before the reading unit reads the identification information; and   when the registered face image associated with the identification information read by the reading unit is not present, display the detected face image captured by the image capturing unit before the reading unit reads the identification information so that the detected face image to be registered as the registered face image can be visually selected,   wherein the processor further configured to execute the instructions to:   detect a plurality of the detected face images from the images acquired by the image capturing unit; and   match the plurality of detected face images against the registered face image.   
     
     
         6 . A face recognition method comprising:
 an image capturing step of acquiring images;   a detection step of detecting, as a detected face image, a face image from the images acquired by the image capturing step;   a reading step of reading identification information from a medium carried by an authentication subject;   a matching step of, when a registered face image associated with the identification information read by the reading step is present, matching the detected face image detected in the detection step against the registered face image and matching, against the registered face image, the detected face image captured in the image capturing step before reading the identification information in the reading step; and   a registration step of, when the registered face image associated with the identification information read in the reading step is not present, registering, as the registered face image, the detected face image captured in the image capturing step before reading the identification information in the reading step,   wherein the detection step detects a plurality of the detected face images from the images acquired by the image capturing step, and   wherein the matching step matches the plurality of detected face images against the registered face image.   
     
     
         7 . A non-transitory storage medium in which a program is stored, wherein the program causes a computer apparatus to execute:
 a detection step of detecting a face image as a detected face image from images;   a matching step of, when a registered face image associated with the identification information read from a medium carried by an authentication subject is present, matching the detected face image detected in the detection step against the registered face image and matching, against the registered face image, the detected face image captured before reading the identification information; and   a display step of, when the registered face image associated with the identification information read from the medium carried by the authentication subject is not present, displaying the detected face image to be registered as the registered face image to be able to be visually selected,   wherein the detection step detects a plurality of the detected face images from the images acquired by the image capturing step, and   wherein the matching step matches the plurality of detected face images against the registered face image.   
     
     
         8 . The face recognition system according to  claim 1 , wherein the processor further configured to execute the instructions to:
 register, as the registered face image, the detected face image selected out of the plurality of detected face images.   
     
     
         9 . The face recognition system according to  claim 1 , wherein the processor further configured to execute the instructions to:
 match, against the registered face image, the detected face image captured within a predetermined period before the identification information is read by the reading unit.
