Reinforced Glass Water Bottles

Abstract

Provided herein are glass bottles or reinforced glass bottles such as a water bottle. The glass bottles have a glass body portion with an exteriorally threaded bottle mouth and a base portion. A sleeve is removably fitted around the outer surface of the glass body portion. A cap is interiorally threaded on the inner surface of a cap body and has a stopper disposed within the interior of the cap body and a gasket inside the cap between the cap body inner surface and the stopper. A finger ring is formed on the outer surface of the cap.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A water bottle, comprising:
 a glass body portion   a bottle mouth with exterior threads disposed thereon formed at a proximal end of the glass body portion;   a base formed at a distal end of the glass body portion;   a sleeve removably fitted around an outer surface of the glass body portion and the base; and   a cap removably securable around the mouth of the glass bottle body, comprising:
 a cap body with threads interiorally disposed thereon engageable with the exterior threads on the bottle mouth; 
 a stopper interiorally disposed in the cap body with dimensions configured to stop the bottle mouth; 
 a gasket disposed inside the cap between an inner surface of the cap body and an outer surface of the stopper; and 
 a finger ring formed on an outer surface of the cap body. 
   
     
     
         2 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the glass bottle body comprises s borosilicate glass, a high silicate glass, a soda-lime glass, aluminosilicate glass, crystal glass or an alkali silicate glass. 
     
     
         3 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the glass body portion has a cylindrical shape, a square shape, a rectangular shape, an arched rectangular shape, a hexagonal shape, or is jar shaped. 
     
     
         4 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the glass body portion has a thickness of about 3.5 mm to about 4.0 mm and the base has a thickness of about 5 mm to about 10 mm. 
     
     
         5 . The water bottle of  claim 4 , wherein the base has a thickness of about 10 mm along an exterior circumference thereof. 
     
     
         6 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve further comprises a supporting layer disposed along an inner surface of a sleeve portion of the sleeve, supporting ribs disposed along an inner surface of a sleeve base on the sleeve or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         7 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises a plurality of openings disposed therethrough. 
     
     
         8 . The water bottle of  claim 7 , wherein the sleeve has a grid-like structure comprising a plurality of substantially square openings disposed therethrough. 
     
     
         9 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises a sleeve portion having a thickness of about 3 mm and a sleeve base portion having a thickness of about 5 mm. 
     
     
         10 . The water bottle of  claim 9 , wherein the sleeve base portion comprises a substantially circular opening or a substantially polygonal shaped opening centrally disposed through a bottom surface thereof. 
     
     
         11 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises a rubber material, a carbon fiber, a silicone, a natural plant fiber, a fabric rope material, cotton, silk, or a polymer or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         12 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve or the cap or a combination thereof comprises a phosphorescent material, a transparent material or a colored material. 
     
     
         13 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the stopper comprises stainless steel, a plastic, a glass rubber, wood, a carbon fiber, or a polymer. 
     
     
         14 . The water bottle of  claim 1 , wherein the gasket comprises a silicone. 
     
     
         15 . A reinforced water bottle comprising:
 a borosilicate glass body comprising:
 a body portion with a substantially cylindrical shape; 
 a mouth portion formed at a proximal end of the body portion; and 
 a base formed on a distal end of the body portion; 
   a silicone sleeve with a phosphorescent material coated thereon comprising a sleeve portion and a sleeve base portion removably fitted around an outer surface of the borosilicate glass body; and   a cap removably securable to the borosilicate glass body, comprising:
 a cap body with a stainless steel stopper disposed therein such that both the cap body and the stainless stopper are engageable with the mouth portion of the borosilicate glass body; 
 a gasket disposed between an inner surface of the cap body and an outer surface of the stainless steel stopper; and 
 a finger ring formed on an outer surface of the cap body. 
   
     
     
         16 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the body portion of the borosilicate glass body has a thickness of about 3.5 mm to about 4.0 mm and the base of the borosilicate glass body has a thickness of about 10 mm along an exterior circumference thereof. 
     
     
         17 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the silicone sleeve further comprises a supporting layer disposed along an inner surface of the sleeve portion or supporting ribs disposed along an inner surface of the sleeve base portion or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         18 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the silicon sleeve has a grid-like structure comprising a plurality of openings disposed therethrough. 
     
     
         19 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the sleeve portion of the silicon sleeve has a thickness of about 3 mm and the sleeve base portion has a thickness of about 5 mm. 
     
     
         20 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the silicone sleeve comprises a substantially circular opening centrally disposed through a bottom surface of the sleeve base portion. 
     
     
         21 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the silicone sleeve is coated with a phosphorescent paint. 
     
     
         22 . The reinforced water bottle of  claim 15 , wherein the gasket comprises a silicone.
