According to another aspect of the invention, a tool including a chevron-shaped body comprising a first external edge, a second external edge, a first internal edge, and a second internal edge. The tool also includes a handle, a coupling mechanism demountably coupling the handle to the chevron-shaped body and a void formed by the first internal edge, the second internal edge, and the coupling mechanism. An apex of the chevron-shaped body points away from the handle.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A long handled gardening tool comprising:
 a tubular long handle configured to be operated by a user in the standing position upon a surface about the user's feet; a single piece tool head coupled across a terminal end of the long handle by a pair of coupling members, each coupling member sandwiching the terminal end of the long handle between opposing terminal members of the single piece tool head, the stamped single piece tool head comprising:
 concave terminal members complimenting the tubular perimeter of the terminal end of the tubular long handle;
 each individual terminal member extending other than normal to form lateral members;
 each lateral member extending other than normal and substantially parallel with the terminal members to form opposing strips;
 each of the opposing strips bent and merged to define sides of a chevron;
 the chevron, strips, and lateral members defining an opening within the tool head;
 the chevron being angled from the strips and defining a base, the base supporting the tool upon the substrate during tool operation;
 the chevron further defining individual leading and trailing edges extending to an apex of the chevron; and
 each of the individual leading and trailing edges being beveled, and a plurality of recesses within each of the individual leading and trailing edges opposing one another across the chevron.

         2 . The tool of claim 1 wherein the tool head comprises steel.

         3 . The tool of claim 1 wherein the teeth of the leading and trailing edges are sharpened.

         4 . The tool of claim 1 further comprising straight portions of the leading edge.

         5 . The tool of claim 4 wherein the straight portions of the leading edge are of equivalent length.

         6 . The tool of claim 5 wherein the straight portions form an apex of the chevron.

         7 . The tool of claim 1 wherein the base is flat.
