Abstract

Magnetic vascular grafts and methods for their use are provided herein.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method for making a porous, magnetic device, comprising:
providing a solvent containing an uncured polymer, a poragen, and a magnetic sub stance; providing an elongate mandrel having a length of at least about 3 cm and a diameter of about 100 μm to about 6 mm; dipping at least a portion of the mandrel into the solvent containing the polymer, poragen, and magnetic substance; curing the polymer; and removing the poragen.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymer is polyurethane.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the poragen is sodium chloride.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the magnetic substance is cobalt-chrome.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the solvent is dimethylacetamide.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising repeating the dipping and curing steps one or more times.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising winding a thread around the device after a curing step, and subsequently repeating the dipping and curing steps.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the thread comprises polypropylene.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the thread is a polypropylene suture thread.

10 . A method for making a porous, magnetic device, comprising:
providing a nanofiber mesh; using electrospinning to deposit the mesh onto a rotating elongate mandrel, wherein the mandrel has a length of at least about 3 cm and a diameter of about 10 μm to about 100 μm; and incorporating a magnetic substance into the deposited mesh.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the nanofiber mesh is a polyurethane mesh.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the magnetic substance is cobalt-chrome.

13 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising incorporating a poragen into the nanofiber mesh.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the poragen is sodium chloride.

15 . A method for making a magnetic stent-graft, comprising depositing one or more layers of material inside and/or outside of a magnetic stent.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the depositing comprises electrospinning.

17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the one or more layers of material comprise polyurethane.

18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the magnetic stent comprises stainless steel.
