Follow-up messages after in-store shopping
Abstract
Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for provisioning follow up messages to individuals after an in-store retail shopping experience. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include identifying an item of interest to an individual while in a retail store. The method may further include detecting the individual leaving the retails store, and in response to the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting a message to a mobile device of the individual to remind the individual of the item of interest.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system comprising:
a reader component to identify an item of interest to an individual in a retail store by retrieving an identifier from an identification device affixed to the item of interest; and a controller coupled to the reader component, the controller comprising: one or more hardware processors; and a machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more hardware processors, cause the controller to perform operations comprising:
determining an amount of time the individual wears the item of interest based in part on a signal produced by the identification device affixed to the item of interest;
accessing a look-up table that includes a plurality of predefined interest levels and a time range corresponding to each predefined interest level of the plurality of predefined interest levels;
determining, using the look-up table, an interest level of the individual with respect to the item of interest based on the amount of time the individual wears the item of interest;
detecting the individual leaving the retail store;
generating an offer for the item of interest based on the determined interest level of the individual, the generating of the offer including determining a value of the offer based on the determined interest level of the individual; and
transmitting a message to a computer device of the individual in response to detecting the individual leaving retail store, the message facilitating access to the offer.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein determining the amount of time the individual wears the item is based on a strength of the signal produced by the identification device affixed to the item of interest.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the identification device includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise verifying that the individual did not purchase the item of interest based on transaction and inventory data accessed from a network-based database.
5 . The system claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise identifying a user account of the individual based on image data associated with the user account.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise generating an item recommendation for the individual based on the item of interest, the item recommendation including a recommendation to purchase one or more items related to the item of interest, the message including the item recommendation.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the offer includes a discount applicable to a price of the item of interest.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the message includes a selectable element to facilitate the purchase of the item of interest.
9 . A method comprising:
identifying an item of interest to an individual in a retail store based on an identifier retrieved from an identification device affixed to the item of interest; determining an amount of time the individual wears the item of interest based on a signal produced by the identification device affixed to the item of interest; accessing a look-up table that includes a plurality of predefined interest levels and a time range corresponding to each predefined interest level of the plurality of predefined interest levels; determining, using the look-up table, an interest level of the individual with respect to the item of interest based on the amount of time the individual wears the item of interest; detecting the individual leaving the retail store; generating an offer for the item of interest based on the determined interest level of the individual, the generating of the offer including determining a value of the offer based on the determined interest level of the individual; and in response to detecting the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting a message to a computer device of the individual, the message facilitating access to the offer.
10 . The method of claim 9 wherein transmitting the message to the computer device of the individual comprises:
accessing contact information of the individual; and
using the contact information to transmit the message.
11 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising identifying a user account of the individual based on profile image data associated with the user account.
12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein determining the amount of time the individual wears the item is based on a strength of the signal produced by the identification device affixed to the item of interest
13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the identification device includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag affixed to the item.
14 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the value of the offer is inversely proportional to the amount of time the individual wears the garment.
15 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising verifying that the individual did not purchase the item of interest based on transaction and inventory data accessed from a network-based database.
16 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the detecting the individual leaving the retail store is further based on a signal strength produced by an antenna of the mobile device.
17 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising generating a product recommendation for the individual based on the item of interest, the product recommendation includes a recommendation to purchase one or more items related to the item of interest, the messaging including the product recommendation.
18 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the offer includes a discount applicable to a price of the item of interest.
19 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
receiving a request to add the item of interest to an electric shopping cart, the request being generated in response to a user selection of a selectable element included in the message; causing an instance of the item of interest to be added to the electric shopping cart; and facilitating the purchase of the instance of the item of interest added to the electric shopping cart.
20 . A tangible machine-readable storage medium embodying instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
identifying an item of interest to an individual in a retail store based on an identifier retrieved from an identification device affixed to the item of interest; determining an amount of time the individual wears the item of interest based on a signal produced by the identification device affixed to the item of interest; accessing a look-up table that includes a plurality of predefined interest levels and a time range corresponding to each predefined interest level of the plurality of predefined interest levels; determining, using the look-up table, an interest level of the individual with respect to the item of interest based on the amount of time the individual wears the item of interest; detecting the individual leaving the retail store; generating an offer for the item of interest based on the determined interest level of the individual, the generating of the offer including determining a value of the offer based on the determined interest level of the individual; and in response to detecting the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting a message to a computer device of the individual, the message facilitating access to the offer.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
