Probiotic compositions and use thereof

Abstract

Disclosed are probiotic compositions containing Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis. Such compositions are useful to prevent and/or treat urogenital infections in women by oral administration.

1 . Probiotic composition for oral administration comprising:
   Lactobacillus plantarum,        Lactobacillus rhamnosus,  and     Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis;      
       provided that the probiotic composition does not comprise a prebiotic component comprising at least one scFOS, short-chain fructo-oligosaccharide. 
     
     
         2 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 1 , comprising the following strains:
   Lactobacillus plantarum  PBS067,     Lactobacillus rhamnosus  PBS070, and     Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  PBS075.   
     
     
         3 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 1 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         4 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 1 , wherein  Lactobacillus rhamnosus  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         5 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 1 , wherein  Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         6 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 1 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum:Lactobacillus rhamnosus:Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  are present in a ratio of 1:1:1. 
     
     
         7 . Probiotic composition comprising:
   Lactobacillus plantarum,        Lactobacillus rhamnosus,  and     Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis,      
       for use in prevention and/or treatment of female urogenital infections and relapses thereof. 
     
     
         8 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , comprising the following strains:
   Lactobacillus plantarum  PBS067,     Lactobacillus rhamnosus  PBS070, and     Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  PBS075.   
     
     
         9 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         10 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein  Lactobacillus rhamnosus  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         11 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein  Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         12 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum:Lactobacillus rhamnosus:Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  are present in a ratio of 1:1:1. 
     
     
         13 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein the female urogenital infection is bacterial vaginosis. 
     
     
         14 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein the female urogenital infection is fungal vaginitis. 
     
     
         15 . Probiotic composition for use according to  claim 7 , wherein the female urogenital infection is cystitis. 
     
     
         16 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 2 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         17 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 2 , wherein  Lactobacillus rhamnosus  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         18 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 2 , wherein  Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  is present in amounts on the total weight of the composition ranging from 10 mg to 90 mg, preferably from 25 mg to 50 mg, more preferably is 33 mg. 
     
     
         19 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 2 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum:Lactobacillus rhamnosus:Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  are present in a ratio of 1:1:1. 
     
     
         20 . Probiotic composition according to  claim 3 , wherein  Lactobacillus plantarum:Lactobacillus rhamnosus:Bifidobacterium animalis  subsp.  lactis  are present in a ratio of 1:1:1.
