Abstract

A computer-implemented method includes storing at a computer server indicative data for a first web-accessible document that is not associated with the computer server, receiving a request from a program module in a container document associated with the web-accessible document, and providing, in response to the request, information related to the indicative data.

         21 . A computer-implemented method to provide content items on electronic documents based on real-time data, comprising:
 receiving, by one or more computing devices, a content item to be displayed on a user computing device, wherein the content item comprises at least one element associated with a particular item;   receiving, by one or more computing devices, a request to serve the content item in connection with relevant electronic documents;   identifying, by the one or more computing devices, updated data associated with the particular item;   updating, by the one or more computing devices, the at least one element with the updated data; and   providing, by the one or more computing devices, the content item comprising the updated at least one element in conjunction with the electronic document.   
     
     
         22 . The computer implemented method of  claim 21 , wherein the updated at least one element is an updated selling price. 
     
     
         23 . The computer implemented method of  claim 21 , wherein the updated at least one element is an updated customer review. 
     
     
         24 . The computer implemented method of  claim 21 , further comprising:
 receiving, by the one or more computing devices, an indication that an electronic document is to be displayed on a user computing device;   determining, by the one or more computing devices, features of the electronic document; and   providing, by the one or more computing devices, the updated at least one element in conjunction with the electronic document.   
     
     
         25 . The computer implemented method of  claim 24 , wherein the features of the electronic document are based on received search terms. 
     
     
         26 . The computer implemented method of  claim 25 , wherein the search terms are associated with the at least one element of the particular item. 
     
     
         27 . The computer implemented method of  claim 24 , wherein the determination that the at least one element of the content item corresponds to features of the electronic document is based on an analysis of the electronic document. 
     
     
         28 . The computer implemented method of  claim 21 , wherein the at least one element of the content item is based on a list of input features provided by a user. 
     
     
         29 . The computer implemented method of  claim 21 , wherein the electronic document is a website. 
     
     
         30 . The computer implemented method of  claim 21 , wherein the content item is associated with one or more keywords. 
     
     
         31 . A computer program product, comprising:
 a non-transitory computer-readable storage device having computer-executable program instructions embodied thereon that when executed by one or more computing devices cause the computer to provide content items on electronic documents based on real-time data, the computer-readable program instructions comprising:
 computer-executable instructions to receive a content item to be displayed on a user computing device, wherein the content item comprises at least one element associated with a particular item; 
 computer-executable instructions to receive a request to serve the content item in connection with relevant electronic documents; 
 computer-executable instructions to identify updated data associated with the particular item; 
 computer-executable instructions to update the at least one element with the updated data; and 
 computer-executable instructions to provide the content item comprising the updated at least one element in conjunction with the electronic document. 
   
     
     
         32 . The computer program product of  claim 31 , wherein the updated at least one element is an updated selling price. 
     
     
         33 . The computer program product of  claim 31 , wherein the updated at least one element is an updated customer review.

         35 . A system to provide content items on electronic documents based on real-time data, comprising:
 a storage device; and   a processor communicatively coupled to the storage device, wherein the processor executes application code instructions that are stored in the storage device to cause the system to:
 receive a content item to be displayed on a user computing device, wherein the content item comprises at least one element associated with a particular item; 
 receive a request to serve the content item in connection with relevant electronic documents; 
 identify updated data associated with the particular item; 
 update the at least one element with the updated data; and 
 provide the content item comprising the updated at least one element in conjunction with the electronic document. 
   
     
     
         36 . The system of  claim 35 , further comprising instructions to:
 receive an indication that an electronic document is to be displayed on a user computing device;   determine features of the electronic document; and   provide the updated at least one element in conjunction with the electronic document.   
     
     
         37 . The system of  claim 36 , wherein the features of the electronic document are based on received search terms. 
     
     
         38 . The system of  claim 37 , wherein the search terms are associated with the at least one element of the particular item. 
     
     
         39 . The system of  claim 36 , wherein the determination that the at least one element of the content item corresponds to features of the electronic document is based on an analysis of the electronic document. 
     
     
         40 . The system of  claim 35 , wherein the at least one element of the content item is based on a list of input features provided by a user.
